Descriptive Essay: My Hero's Fight
The commander passed by me riding to the center of our line, the enemy was at the bottom of the hill from us battling our forces that attacked them from the rear. Our forces are outnumbered but they were only a distraction for us the cavalry.

The commander rides to the center of the line and turns towards us and yells "Men today we send these invading fools to hell, take no prisoners, kill all of them, they shall pay for the damage they have done to our people and land!". At that he turns back towards the battle and raises his spear over his head "CHARGE!" He yells. Everyone rushes forward thundering towards the enemy they turn towards us terrified knowing there end has come. Our forces cut them down while we approach.

But to me from the time we rushed forward it was like time slowed down as if it was a dream I did not hear the yells of the men around me I did not hear the thunder of the horses hooves on the ground, alls I was

Men scream in agony, bones crunch, horses fall.

My lance shatters upon the first impact sending splinters of wood everywhere. The man who took the blow dies almost instantly. I draw my sword and continue through the battle killing the enemies around me. I take an arrow to the side but it is deflected by my armor. I continue weaving in and out striking any enemy I see. I take very few hits and most are deflected by my armor but a few leave some cuts that will add to my scars from a life of battle.

The enemy has no order. there line was broken because of the attack of our foot soldiers earlier they had not time to regroup. The battle goes well for us but the enemy suffers many losses before they route.

The commander shouts "VICTORY! We have victory!" I sheath my sword and join the shouts of victory happy to be alive. The day is won there are many dead on the field many wounded and the last of the enemy retreat. I have survived where so many have

In 1916 witnessed the commencement of the battle of the Somme. Through the course of that one battle, a million British men were slaughtered compared to the combined number of American casualties in both the first and Second World War. The Battle of the Somme was planned as a joint French and British operation, approved by Haig. However, the German attack on Verdun in February 1916 turned the Somme offensive into a large-scale British attack. Haig accepted responsibility for the action and with the help of Rawlinson who devised his own plan of attack. The vital part of Haig's strategy was an eight-day attack to destroy the German defenses. Soldiers were lined up according to battlefield strategies, and led by major officers. The blood of the nations was poured into conditions of such horror and violence. “Lions led by donkeys”, was how the German soldiers referred to their British counterpart. Ever since the end of WW1 in 1918 which was won by the British allies against the Germans it has been hugely debated whether the phrase 'Lions Led by Donkeys' is correct. In this essay I am going to talk about the extent of which the phrase was a fair description of what had happened at the battle of the Somme, by looking at different people’s point of view about General Haig.…

The Artillery of the Potomac Army at Gettysburg, achieved victory through the “King of Battle” and integration of the Union maneuver commanders (Steve, 2014). Combat experience demonstrated seasoned leadership. The superiority of the Union artillery over their confederate counterparts was not only the number of guns employed, but also, it was the manner of how the Union commanders employed the artillery under their command (Steve, 2014). Proper integration of assets can determine the battlefield in moments. Hence, the concept of today’s utilization of artillery supporting the maneuver elements, has not drastically changed. (Steve, 2014)…

Despite the fury of their enemy’s attack, Captain Minetos’s 1st company was in good shape. The Raiders in front of us had suffered a fearsome toll from our archers. In fact, there weren’t any men immediately behind the enemy formation to fill the empty places in their line. However, enemy skirmishers had begun sweeping our open flank, which was a dangerous threat. The Amarians were formation fighters, each warrior was trained to depend on the shield next them, turn their flank and their whole fighting system unraveled. I saw an Amarian warrior get blindsided by the enemy flankers, taking a spear in the thigh.…

In the poem it takes great detail into exactly how real and the sights and sound they were surrounded by in the valley of death. It states in the third paragraph it states ‘Cannon to the right of them, Cannon to the left of them, Cannon in front of them’. The cannons that the enemy used were surrounding them and the brave Six Hundred were very out numbered. It continues with ‘volleyd and thundered stormed at with shot and shell, boldly they rode and well into the jaws of Death, into the mouth of hell’ this explains how dangerous but how well they took the challenge, they could have backed down they rode well and into the mouth of hell essentially they rode to their…
