The Grand Canyon
I remember my trip to the Grand Canyon in Arizona. It was a few years ago and it was the most breathtaking trip of my life. I remember flying to Arizona because it was a long flight and the plane kept shaking because of the wind outside. The Grand Canyon I believe was or still is one of the Seven Wonders of the World. I saw many kinds of people, whether they are children, men, women, adults senior citizens, and foreigners.
The Grand Canyon has guides to show you some of the key areas that were the best to check out. They’re many ways to experience the Grand Canyon either by walking, horseback riding or canoeing in the Colorado River. I got to experience one of the ways to see the Grand Canyon and that was by walking. Once the guide takes you on the trip to the top of one mountain you see the many trails that spread across the mountain, you feel the heat slowly starting to grab a hold of you, the sweat from the walking drips down like a snowman in spring melting, your muscles tense up from all the walking you been doing, and the altitude makes you feel light as a feather. The journey is well worth it because when you see the top you literally feel like you’re on top of the world. You see the sun shine on the mountain, the clouds fogging up some parts of the valley and you feel warm and at ease. Someone from the city may never understand what you are watching. You feel a connection to the nature around you, as you are one with earth. I heard the song in my head “Three Steps to Heaven” playing over and over again as I felt the mountain was so high I can almost feel so close to the physical world and the spiritual world.
Many teens around my age think that anything with the outdoors or the environment is boring. This cannot be further from the truth. Even though the Grand Canyon may not have any technology or modern objects that us teens like, they can and will have a good time there. The connection I had made me enjoy the trip, but the fact that I was learning at the same time made me enjoy it even more. I saw the Grand Canyon and how the Colorado River craved out its own path. The colors of the mountains jump at you with bright or red orange colored mountains almost like a pumpkin color. The river fit perfectly with the flowers and tress surrounding it, as it somehow gave the area some life. The land felt moist and soft like a carpet and the animals stared and watch carefully for every movement you took. The steepness of the mountain made you think twice to look down and the warning signs caution the people to stay away from the railings. Everything perfectly placed the mountain, river, animal, plants and tress almost like a set up from a movie scene.
It is no surprise that many adults and even children have found that going to the Grand Canyon to be an exciting and outstanding experience. Even though the Grand Canyon may not have certain attractions to it like Six Flags has, it will blow your mind in a different kind of way. The mountains with their skyscraper size makes you feel like an ant or like a smurf from the television show. The cactuses and tress brighten up the mountain with orange, purple, and green. Everything is so real and not man made, it made me feel good to hear that man cannot disrupt this area of Arizona. I just took the moment in with my eyes, mind, and my heart.
When you finish the trip with the guide you feel overwhelmed and amazed as to how you have never seen something like this before. The city is a nice place to be in but out there you feel a spiritual energy that surrounds you with good emotions. The Native Americas tell you stories of how they’ve survived on these lands. They tell you how god’s hand shaped the mountains and craved everything out like a sculptor. It was true for me, I felt that someone that wasn’t human did this and left it for us to witness his/her power. Walking through the mountain made you think of all the past history the mountain has seen. All the explorers and scientist from the past experience the same sensation in the Grand Canyon.
Even though the Grand Canyon may not be like Six Flags, or any attraction park it has the ability to attract you on a personal level, it leaves you in awe with everything that you see and experience. The Grand Canyon offers an experience you can enjoy with your family and friends. Overall, the Grand Canyon in Arizona is a place that will touch your heart, soul, and mind.

Towards the north there are the skyscraping mountains. Where the occasional tourist ventures to go hiking on the angelic, yet perilous, trails that spiral up the mountain. To the south I see a profound canyon that stretches from the east to the west. Legend has it, that once a year in the dead silence of the night, you can hear the rumbling of the canyon slowly expanding in size. When I look towards the east, way…

It was fun getting to learn about how the canyon was created and how long it could have possibly taken. We watched videos of people rafting down the Colorado River, clips of tribes who lived in the bottom of the canyon, and beautiful pictures of sunsets over the west of the gorge. Seeing all of this got me very excited and I really wanted to see it now! When we got out there we got to go out onto this manmade ledge and look out over the edge of the canyon which was very cool, but kind of intimidating at the same time because you really can’t comprehend how deep it is until you are looking off the edge of it with only a fence and an enormous drop between you and the bottom. One thing I noticed up there was how many people were there from all over the world, I even got to help a couple from India find a bathroom since they couldn’t read any of the signs. People were there from all countries like Germany, New Zealand and Japan. We also saw license plates from almost every state, the only one I didn’t find was North…
