descriptive essay
My home is a special place to me. It is not only my happy place, but it is also a place where I can also feel other emotions. This house is special to me because it is the first home that my mother and stepfather bought together. Before my stepfather came into my life it was just my mom and I. My mother and I had never lived in a house before. We always lived in either an apartment or a trailer. Moving into a house was something new and exciting for us. I remember standing in the driveway, taking pictures, on my first day of kindergarten. My parents bringing my brother home from the hospital for the first time was exciting but nothing made me more ecstatic than seeing my first car sitting in the driveway of my house. I couldn’t imagine my parents not living in the home that holds so many of our memories.
My house is located in a small, quiet neighborhood in the country. It is set behind a mini hill with neon colored grass. Tall trees fill my backyard and shade the sun on bright days. Beautiful flowers bloom beside the bushes rooted to the left and right of my front door. A “Welcome” door mat lies on the porch of my home, awaiting visitors. On the other side of the front door is an elegant home in which I reside in. To me, there is no place like home. On the first floor of my home are the living room, kitchen and den. The sweet aroma of my mother’s fried chicken defines our home. When family or friends come over they always expect my mom to be in the kitchen cooking. Her fried chicken is everyone’s favorite which draws them to the kitchen as they walk into my home. In the den, located right next to the kitchen, is where my family fellowships together. This is the place where we all watch TV, play family games, laugh, talk and share stories or simply talk about our day. Up the stairs and straight ahead is my brother’s room which is known to be the messiest room of the house and a room that I am never in. Down the hallway and to the left is the bathroom which

What’s better to chill out a hot summer’s day than something sweet and cool? No, I am not talking about a Popsicle. I am not talking about an ice cream cone, either. I am not even talking about iced tea or lemonade. It is something better than all of those, and it doesn’t even have all the sneaky calories of those other tasty treats! The answer to the question is simple. Have you guessed it? It is a cherry.…

For seventeen years, I called it home. For seventeen years I lived a life surrounded by adoring family members. Now, this is all a distant memory. It was the house in which my life became estranged: trying to hide from the realms of reality while escaping into the fantasy in which I belonged. Now, each time I picture it, it taunts me. It has become a house that beholds my true nightmares……

The old house saw the rearing of four brothers and their adopted sister. However, one of these days it, too, will give way and it will no longer be home to those who hold it in their fondest memories. But, of course, an empty house is no longer a home. It’s just the place or the house where home used to be. What remains are the lives of those who were touched by those dear ones who lived there.…

It is the one place where I know I can relax. It has that small cottage feel to it. There are not only huge oak trees and rose bushes surrounding it, but she also has a small garden waterfall, which complements it nicely. The moment I walked inside the house, a feeling of calmness came over me. The worries of going to work and paying bills that would not ever be paid off vanished from my mind. This place is my absolute haven away from the rat race of the inner city and when I tire of crowds of people around me. This is one place where southerners with true southern hospitality…

Where would home be to me? Home would be in Pocahontas County, WV, in a little place called Buckeye. It is also known to be my parents’ house and where I grew up at. Why do I love this place so much? For the reason it has the most beautiful views and it is so peaceful and quiet. It is way back in the country. It also overlooks the river and the mountains across the river. It also has a big field that has different species of wildlife in it. There are also some many beautiful animals that are around my mom and dad’s house. I love to sit there and watch the animals run, play, and eat. I also like to just go out and sit and think about things and just get away from everything for a little bit. It is everything that you would think of.…

I push the door open. The bell rings, with a soft but shrill ring. A wave of rubber gloves and disinfectant masked with air freshener smells are in the air . Chairs are cluttered in the waiting room of the dentists. Clusters of magazines lie on the wood coffee tables, shiny bright plastic showing logos and slogans. A little way forward from where I stand is a desk. A smiling receptionist sits there. She seems to have been expecting someone somehow, as she points me to go wait near the couches and chairs.…

I agree and believe with all my heart and soul in this quote by Benjamin Franklin. A house becomes a home as you live in it and begin to add your own personal touch. It becomes a home when you begin making memories and add life to it. Although a home is not always a safe haven for people, this reminds us that life without a safe and nurturing home can have crucial ramifications for health and well-being. A home should be a place where your family and loved ones can help you make sense of life when life becomes chaotic and complicated. A place where you know your troubles are swept away. “A home is where the heart is!”…

A Home May Be A House, But A House Isn't Always A Home A home is the place where you feel welcomed. It's the place you look forward to going to at the end of the day. It's comfort, safety and imperfection. It may be an apartment in a high-rise building, a dilapidated shack, a mansion, or a split level in the suburbs, but it's always a place where you feel safe and comfortable. just because a place is yours, or because your family lives there, does not necessarily make a place a home. My home is wherever I have my freedom which is when I’m living alone. Its a place where I can be with my male lover or do things I enjoy such as dancing nude and watching gay kamasutra lessons without headphones . A place where I can strip myself naked physically and mentally, of insecurities and my worries. A place where I can play with my childhood teddy bear and watch Little Mermaid without being judged. Being able to communicate to my clothes and speak to myself .A place of acceptance basically. A house does not have personal or sentimental value, a home does.…

Understand – my home is my joy, my hobby, my comfort. I love the antique clock on the mantel, the family photographs that make me smile, our wedding-gift silver that can turn a plain meal into a celebration, the handed-down Blue Willow platter that has held the Thanksgiving turkey for generations. I love to arrange and rearrange, to add a flower here, a candle there, to feel happy and snug with a book of Emily Dickinson's poems, to fling open the windows in the spring and light the first fire in the fireplace in the fall.…
