The fear of going to school, and facing my classmates gave me panic attacks. To skip school, I made phony excuses such as pretending to have stomach aches. I stopped paying attention in my classes, and as a result, my grades dropped. Every time, my teacher picked on me to read in the class, I stuttered, and everyone laughed at me. Up to this day, I have glossophobia also known as speech anxiety. At the end of my grade school, I failed, and was not able to advance to fifth grade. My parents were disappointed in me. They had high hopes for me, and I shattered their…

As a freshman in high school, my anxiety was uncontrollable. At the time, Tori was a senior and my captain. From day one she made it clear that being shy was not an option. As a member of the team, you were to perform Friday nights in front of hundreds of people, even more at competitions. Just thinking about it would make me uneasy and send my nervous system into a downward spiral.…
After reading the article I believe that discontinuities do exists across early development from infancy to toddlerhood, but I also agree that the differences in the data could be a cause of discontinuity between the infants and toddlers. One major issue that persisted was being able to compare the infants and toddlers in the “relation between gaze in infants with the behavior and search in toddlers is inconsistent and does not allow the researches to properly compare both groups real abilities. In infants their abilities are measured through eye gaze and the ability to follow objects while in toddlers their abilities are measured through their actual physical abilities to complete tasks. Although both test do measure what they participants…
There were days when I would not touch my lunch food or go outside. I soon realized that I had to get myself out there, stop isolating myself and socialize with my classmates. I play soccer so I decided to try out for the soccer team to put myself out there and gain the confidence to socialize with others in my own way with the sport I love to play. With this being said and done, I made the team and eventually made some new friends, genuine friends that I will remember for a lifetime. I also made friends in the classes I had. I had to speak up and eventually I did then I learned many important things from them. This challenge affects my academic achievement strongly because I am one of the people who does not like to communicate but I have learned to communicate with others easily and this helped mey gain confidence to speak in front of the classroom more smoothly than how I once…
The new mother needs to know that this is normal and the baby will start to sleep through the night in time. To assist the new mother the nurse can encourage her to seek assistance from her husband in doing a night time feed. The mother can express breast milk so the father can feed his baby and the mother can get some much needed sleep. This also allows the father to bond with their baby as they are often at work and time spent with their baby is limited compared to the mother. Developing a connection with the baby allows the father to assist the mother in finding a routine that will enable both parents and baby to…
The occurrence of teenage pregnancy is a social issue causing governments and organisations to implement strategies and tools to minimise the prominence, and further educate teens about contraception. Recently the development of infant simulators to combat this issue has become a popular, though expensive solution. With exposure to social media and growing technology, teens can gather their attitude towards the effects of teenage parenthood would have on their lives. Therefore, the use of infant simulators will prove to be mostly ineffective as a tool for the prevention of teenage pregnancy rates. Rather the promotion and providence of contraception and providing teens with knowledge earlier on proves to be a more efficient method of prevention(Judith…
For many years, I struggled with social anxiety and a fear of what others were thinking, as I’ve moved through high school, I’ve been able to move past this anxiety and engage with the community more easily. Early on my anxiety hurt my move into high school, I went from kindergarten through eighth grade in a school of around 120 students to high school, of about 10 times more. The main issues my anxiety concerned were involvement in class, and expressing my opinion, much of it out of a fear of being wrong. By getting thrown into this much larger school, I adapted much quicker than I might have if I had gone somewhere more nurturing, I quickly shifted how I acted when dealing with other people and in class. I’ve been able to express my opinion…
Standing up in front of the class, our palms sweat and we struggle on our words. We don't know what to say with all of those eyes on us, but we continue to talk and present anyways because it is what is required of us. People can understand things such as ADHD, but when it comes to anxiety disorders, it's all about "getting over it".…
I plan to raise my infant(s) quite similarly to the way my parents did. I plan on putting my infant in daycare as soon as possible, just like my parents did. I find that it helps your child socialize, make new friends, and also aids in better learning. Something I would definitely do different from my parents though is encourage my children to eat healthy and provide them with better foods. I have several memories of eating fast food and drinking sodas at a very young age which lead to me being a picky eater. I want to introduce a huge variety of fruits and veggies and other nutritious foods to my young child's diet to encourage healthy eating habits. Overall I simply want to provide my children with enormous amounts of unconditional love and…
