Dentistry Personal Statement Essay
My interest in dentistry dates back to middle school. Back then, I had recently had my braces removed and had achieved an amazing smile that I contemplated only movie stars had. My first ever dental appointment, and consequently getting braces, heavily influenced my future goals. The impact that dentistry had on me and moreover, seeing what dentistry can do in one’s life, gave me the thought that one day I would be in a white coat, eager to change a person’s life. SHPEP also has the tools that turn dreams into people’s future, because learning on my own, without much network in the field, the process and journey to and after dental school would be a rough trail. It is much more authentic to hear from people who have gone through the process and SHPEP provides just the right people for this: current dental students, who give a very powerful insight into the real picture of how a dental school feels like, which to me is a priceless opportunity to get to make strong connections and meaningful observations. We can all do so much more, if we have some guidance and knowledge of how things work beforehand instead of blindly going

All my life I had been raised around the dental field with my dad asking me every morning and every night if I brushed my teeth and flossed, or standing right behind me watching the brushing strokes to make sure I wasn’t cutting the cleaning short. As a kid I did as I was told but it was never my dream to be a dentist, dental hygienist, or be involved in the dental field in any way. When I was in eighth grade, I fell in love with history and archaeology, and my dad as one…

Being enrolled at NCC had taught me several fundamental skills, such as: time management, organization, different studying methods, working in a team setting (which is critical in any dental hygiene program), and much more. The transition to UNH was somewhat difficult at first. I had a rough time keeping up with the fast pace that was taught in a four-year college. Although I did an excellent job of managing my time at NCC, it was challenging for me to develop a method to balance my time at UNH with completing my assignments, studying for exams, and allocating time to relax my mind and body. Currently, I am doing a great job of staying on track with my major.…
