Audience Analysis: My audience is a class of freshmen students, and my speech teacher, at the International Academy of Macomb.
General Purpose: To demonstrate.
Specific Purpose: To teach my peers how to make paper flowers. Central Idea: To share a new craft with the class.
How to Make a Paper Flower
A. Anonymous once said, “the earth without ‘art’ is just ‘eh’.” B. The kind of art that I’ll be sharing with you today requires two pieces of paper or two sticky notes, scissors, a glue stick, and a pencil if needed. C. My knowledge of the making of paper flowers goes back to sixth grade though I don’t actually recall how I learned.
D. After following the simple steps of folding, cutting, gluing and repeat you will end up with something like this.
A. Step One
1. To begin
, you’ll need to take the corner your first paper or sticky note and match it to the corner of the opposite side, forming a triangle. 2. In addition
, if you’re using a piece of 8.5” x 11” piece of paper, you’ll need to take your scissors and cut off the rectangular portion left at the bottom of the page.
, you repeat this same step on your second piece of paper. B. Step Two
The second step
in this process is to fold the triangle in half at the base to the two corners furthest away meet.
2. Once again
, you’ll need to repeat this step on your second triangle C. Step Three
The third step
is to take your scissors and cut the paper in a curved line towards the point of the triangle at the end, beginning at either of the corners at the end of the hypotenuse of the triangle.
2. In addition to that step, you may find it more helpful to draw in the lines you will be cutting along. This is where your pencil may come into play. 3....
