This song was featured in Disney’s 2007 film Enchanted and the lyrics explain how a man should show his affection towards a woman and how to tell her he loves her. “It’s not enough to take the one you love for granted. You must remind her or she’ll be inclined to say, ‘How do I know he loves me?’” said Lovato. The song also gives advice to women on how to know whether their significant other truly loves them. “Does he take you out dancing just so he can For my professional resource, I chose to use Dr. John Gottman’s concept of “the magic five hours.” John Gottman is a psychologist and family researcher that studies relationships, especially marriage. His concept of the “the magic five hours” concentrate on small, significant actions that couples should do in order to maintain, improve, and strengthen their relationships. These actions listed throughout the song include dancing, holding her close, setting a private picnic by the fire, leaving her little notes, and sending flowers. They should also kiss, hold, touch each other, and be playful with affection. Especially for married couples, a couple should take the time, at least two hours every week, to go out on a date alone. During the date, they should use the time to talk, update each other about important issues, play, and enjoy being

Hour is about the feelings that arise from spending time with a loved one. The poem suggests that to be with a loved one, even for just an hour, is precious and valuable. Women often feel unloved because their emotional needs aren’t being met, and in the same way, men often feel ignored because their physical needs aren’t being met. What women mean by intimacy is deep emotional connection, sharing and hearing the heart of the loved, the ability to cry easily and together at emotional moments, a sensitivity to know immediately when feelings are hurt, understanding each other’s dreams and goals, and closeness of the heart and soul. However, what men mean by intimacy is physical connection, foreplay, hand-holding, hugging and kissing, understanding each other’s physical needs, an ability to communicate physical needs, physical time alone together and a sensitivity to know when physical needs are present. In the healthiest of environments, people advance from ‘relationship’ to ‘engaged’ status because two people have mutually acknowledged each other, have common understandings, and act with the other person’s concerns in mind. A relationship, be it for marriage, friends or business, requires a domain of actions and an assessment that your partner is worth trust because they act with the intention to take care and not betray shared concerns. One of those elements is the interpersonal communication between the people in the relationship. When communicating effectively, there is a behavioral coordination that results from the coupling between two people in such a way that the relationship can limit the drift of day-to-day life, and move with effective communication practices that will address fundamental concerns.…
