Do you prefer the work of the French Romantics or the Spanish Romantics? Why? Please provide examples for support. In essence, I prefer the work of the French Romantics oppose to the Spanish Romantics. My reason for choosing the work of the French Romantics is the rich vivid colors and smooth flow of the lines and shape, whereas the Spanish Romantic work uses more dismal and dark colors, and rigid lines. For example, the work of Francisco de Goya’s etching, The Sleep of Reason Produces Monsters, c.1799 is a dark depiction of him sleeping while creatures surround and converging upon his sleeping body. I interpret this to mean that these are his nightmares and he is expressing the fears in his

    COURSE DESCRIPTION The purpose of this course is to expand the students’ awareness and understanding of visual art in both historical and practical terms. Through historical reference and hand on exercises, students will become familiar with artistic motivation and visual expression. COURSE REQUIREMENTS 1.
