Definition Essay: What Is Happiness?
What Is Happiness? You ask me what is happiness. Hear me out. Here I am blessed, alive and working towards my goals. Listen to me without thinking that I’m arrogant, snobbish, or thinking that I have it all together. Your opinions will no longer define me and my happiness. Take a walk in my shoes and learn how hard it is to remain sane in a world full of negativity and doubt. Happiness is having friends and family that you can go to in a time of need. They are always there, and they will always be appreciative of you. Some may say “ How could you be so happy knowing that your friends and family talk about you behind your back?”. My response is easy, because at the end of the day their opinions don't define me and I will still love them. Having friends and family is the best thing in this life and is often taken for …show more content…
Music is one of the easiest ways of communicating your feelings to someone, because there are so many different types. Music is almost like soul food. Its so good that it makes you forget about whats going on around you. I use music as an outlet sometimes, it helps me to not only get over whats going on around me but it also helps me to forget the consequences. Playing music by using my instrument makes me ecstatic. It shows me how far i've come. Music makes me happy because it shows you how easily you can let go of the little things and remain happy. Happiness is God. God makes me happy, because it took me awhile to learn that without him I am truly nothing. God is happiness because no matter the time, day, or hour that I need him. He will always be there. People always ask, how can God make you happy when you can neither see or hear him. My answer is a simple prayer. Praying makes me happy because I know any problem I can go and lay them at his feet and he will take care of it. God is happiness because he's not only there when i’m sad, but also when I’m happy. He has a will destined just for me, and it will make me

The second Friday of every month, my friends and I go out for dinner after we come back from our theatre meeting. We usually relax and complain about our spine breaking workload and how we wish the weekend should never end. The second Friday of February, we went to eat Chinese. Unlike our usual conversations, we had a contemplative discussion about the future. At that time, we were seniors in high school and had no perception about the future. We all had the conception that after senior year we go to college, get a degree, pursue for a masters or doctorate, get a job, and get settled in life. Then I envisaged whether our happiness is confined within these tedious steps. Moreover, I pondered: what is happiness?…

I can’t claim that I know what happiness is. It can’t be a matter of good fortune or worldly possession. It comes from appreciating what we have, instead of complaining about what we don’t. All I can tell you is that when you are happy, you feel it with all your heart. When you are happy you always seem to lack words. You are not walking – you are flying. You are like the sun, the sky, the flowers all in one, inseparable. Everything then seems different. The trees are greener, the stars shine brighter, the moon is kinder. You feel like everything goes right, as it should be. You feel as a young Spring enlivening the nature, as an amazing Summer warming everyone. You are dynamite of feelings and emotions.…

I believe happiness comes in so many ways, moments, memories, people, etc. To me it's always the smallest of things that make me have a bit of pleasure. For example, it can be as simple as being with my closest friends, hanging out, laughing, not having to think about every little problem we have going on. Or when your crush finally decides to make a move and you get the chance to be alone with him in that moment when he leans in for a kiss when your heart beats a little bit faster. Or having having someone listen to you when you're feeling down. Sometimes it's even being by yourself enjoying a good movie with some good food. But sometimes it can be those big things,…
