Throughout history humankind has been trying to define happiness. What is it exactly and how do we obtain it? We always think that happiness is a place to be or a destination and technically, that is the main premise or goal of our lives; to obtain happiness. So our whole lives go by from the minute were born to the last breath we take in a quest to work hard in order to reach that destination. Happiness and satisfaction are related in different ways. When one is satisfied with what one has in life, then he or she is happy. Perhaps they have achieved their goal in life, such as graduating from a university or having a family. Especially when they have found the right soul mate, then they have found their happiness. Even with kids, when a little boy gets a piece of his favorite candy, he will show satisfaction. Being satisfied takes a person toward happiness, but it may not take the person there by itself. It takes more than being satisfied for one to find his or her happiness. For example, one may have graduated from a university, but now he or she needs to find a job. In addition to that, one may have found a job, but he or she wants to find a career that is more rewarding than just satisfying his or her needs. Therefore, there is more of happiness than just being satisfied.…

What exactly is happiness and what can create it? Though it is defined as the condition of being content, different people may have their own ideas of happiness. It is a state of well being characterized by emotions ranging from contentment to intense joy. Happiness is a pleasant feeling that is beneficial and yet also intangible and elusive. This elusiveness may come from the fact that some people have the wrong idea of happiness. They believe that the transitory things they seek after, such as money or fame, will give them true happiness, nut in actuality they won’t. Statistics have shown that the majority of wealthy people are not truly happy. However, other people assert that friends and family are the main sources that bring about happiness. But, whatever the source, happiness is definitely an essentiality and necessity of life.…

One of the most complicated questions humanity has made itself is: What is happiness? Some will answer that money is happiness, some will answer that it is the recollection of special moments that you share with your loved ones. Truth be told, there is not a correct or incorrect answer for this question. This is because the answer is completely subjective, it is a personal opinion. The answer to this question varies a lot. One of the factors that contribute to this fact is age. I was fascinated to hear the different answers but the age group that really caught my attention was adults. I do not consider myself an adult because I do not work and I do not have children. Therefore, based on personal experiences, I cannot tell you what happiness to an adult is. But, I do think that for most, happiness comes in the form of economic stability. This reasoning led me to do some research on how money is related to the happiness of adults.…

Furthermore, money is a controversial contributor to happiness, individuals often say that money does not contribute to happiness, however as Myers (2000) attests, money is a means to improve the quality and opportunities in life. Money provides the means to acquire life’s necessities, which in turn increases happiness levels. Diener (cited in Myers 2000) states that wealthier nations have happier citizens, in comparison to the poorer nations, as wealthier nations have the means to provide political, civil and religious freedom, security and education to its citizens.…

To find why we are happy and what that really means, we have to take a look at what makes us feel this emotion. To me, it would appear that it could be anything. It could be a certain activity you enjoy, or a memory of some event in your life, or maybe even a specific person can be all the difference in your life. Anything can make you feel happiness. So it still doesn’t tell us why. Knowing what makes us happy puts us at least a little bit closer to knowing why, and what happiness really means.…

People differ from each other in every single aspect like the way they think and the way they act despite of where we live in this world. Every single person has set their priorities and they have their own ways to be happy. We cannot say one common thing can bring happiness to all. Let’s take money as an example; most people believe that life would be worse without money and I agree with it, but it may not apply for many because people say even though they are wealthy enough they are not happy. So what makes people happy? What is happiness? Everyone has their own definition of happiness and if I am asked the same question, I would say happiness is the feeling of joy, an extreme pleasure, satisfaction and an intense feeling which cannot be expressed in words. There are many things that make people happy; it can be a small gesture of smile from an unknown person passing by on the road or it can be a really big achievement that we were working on since long time or as I said earlier it varies from person to person. Personally I believe there are three main factors that make us lead happy lives: Love, health and career.…
