What It Takes To Survive

Survival is the hardest thing for a person to have in their life. Survival can help a person or could kill a person. One way it could help a person is it can make someone stronger. The way it could kill a person is it could make someone think only about themselves to the point where they can't do anything anymore. There are a lot of things that are involved in survival but the most important ones are perseverance, courage, and physical toughness. How perseverance is one of the most important things about surviving is it keeps you going. In the Story ¨Night by Elie Wiesel¨ it describes how Elie has to be strong with his dad knowing that his mother and sister are going to pretty much die. How this shows perseverance is when times are bad you need to work through it because it is bound to get better at any time. Another way that you need perseverance to survive is when you need to help someone like Elie did with his dad you have to help them no matter what happens. Perseverance is also shown when Elie had to survive in the camp without his dad. This shows that when losing a loved one, you have to be strong. That's how perseverance is used in survival.

“Courage is simply the willingness to be afraid and act anyway, “ says Dr. Robert Anthony. What is the definition of courage? It doesn’t exactly mean to be fearless about something, but to not let fear stop you from doing it. Courage can have a positive effect because it helps people to achieve their dreams and creates the opportunity for amazing things to happen. For example, some people who have gained the courage to do very dangerous things have gotten themselves killed, or seriously injured. However, something positive came out from that result, and things happen for a reason. The fact that those people were brave enough to even attempt something…

To begin with courage is something you can portray when standing up for what you believe in . For instance in the novel Atticus was the rare symbol of courage in maycomb . Atticus defending the Tom Robinson case despite what anyone else in the community had to say . Atticus was not only being courageous by defending the case but because he stood up for what he believed in not only for himself but to set an example for his children . " Because I could never ask you to mind me again scout simply by the nature of the work every lawyer gets at least one case that affects him personally this ones mines I guess. You might hear some ugly talk about it at school , but do one thing for me if you will : you just hold your head high and keep those fists down . No matter what anybody says to you don't .let em get your host try fighting with your head for a change " ( page 76 ) . Risks are involved when overcoming fears and going against the norm. Risks come in different types, risking life, risking reputations, risking limb. The greatest risk “is not taking any risk” (Mark Zuckerberg). A person must have courage to endure each particular risk. A person who is not courageous enough to take risks will “accomplish nothing in life” (Muhammad Ali). Courage happens anytime, anywhere, and any day. Courage is experienced by all; no matter how young, old, wise, or foolish. The effect of courage may not be positive, however, the outcome is remembered. The rewards have the potential to be great, but so do the…
