Merriam-Webster defines the word success as “the fact of getting or achieving wealth, respect or fame.” The definition of success differs from one person to another. Most people work hard throughout their life to achieve goals and be successful in their careers. That might mean acquiring a secondary education, being able to provide for one’s family, achieving a life’s ambition, or acquiring wealth. However, to a homeless man living in a busy city of New York, success might simply mean attaining enough cash to purchase a small meal. While some people equate having wealth and power as being successful, that is often not the case. Although earning and having money is an important aspect of our economy and existence, earning large sums of money is not an accurate way of measuring nor determining if a person is successful or not. Those who find true satisfaction in life, regardless of their wealth or social status, are the ones who have reached true success. As put into words by award-winning author Maya Angelou, "success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it." True success is achieved when an individual has reached a point in their life where their goals and achievements are meaningful and…

There are many ways for young people to become successful in today’s educational paths within the workplace and even with personally set goals. Success is the favorable or prosperous termination of attempts or endeavors; the accomplishment of ones goals. Success is what every person dreams of. In my opinion it is being able to wake up in the morning, take a look in the mirror, and be happy with who you are and what you have accomplished thus far. It is being sheltered, having food, and other necessities that is needed to live. I believe people who are successful have learned to appreciate the good and the bad things in their life. Not only that, they appreciate where they have come from, because it has help to positioned them were they are now. What is success? By definition it is the accomplishment of an aim or purpose or the attainment of popularity or profit, but is that how we really measure success. Or do we measure it by our happiness and self-content? When I was younger my mother used to ask me “what is being successful”, my reaction was near instant, as if it was a reflex. I quickly said “having more money than you can count!” She would always just smirk and pat my head. I always bothered me how she would ask me the same question over and over again knowing that she is going to receive the same answer.…

Success by my definition is having the largest effect with the smallest amount of effort. This is easily shown by the way the world works. Those with excessive amounts of money and resources have their efforts continuously scaling downwards as their effects on humanity rise. A perfect example of this would be those who have “Star” status. For example Miley Cyrus, she does something that countless women have been doing for years but because of her status it has a global effect.…
