Although earning and having money is an important aspect of our economy and existence, earning large sums of money is not an accurate way of measuring nor determining if a person is successful or not. Those who find true satisfaction in life, regardless of their wealth or social status, are the ones who have reached true success. As put into words by award-winning author Maya Angelou, "success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it." Defining Success Success is the ability to achieve or accomplish ones goals. Everyone has their own interpretation of success. For one to be successful they have to first start with setting realistic goals. Have the ability to turn failures into motivational milestones. As Dungy stated "You get knocked down you have set backs but you have to get back up and keep moving forward" (Dungy,2008). Set a time line for when you want to achieve your goals. Finally, imagine yourself being successful. You do not come across success just by hoping for it. Over the years, many people have viewed success as the gaining of fame and fortune. While this is true, success encompasses all kinds of prosperity. Fame and fortune is just one form. The reason why most people view fame and fortune as the prototype of success is because these two things usually come to people who have worked long and hard. For the most part, in order to be and feel successful, one needs to have worked at it. Here is a quote that stood out to me about success, “Behind every successful man there's a lot of unsuccessful years”. There are no secrets to success. It is the result of preparation, hard work, learning from failure. Success is something that usually takes a lot of effort to get, but is worth it in the end.…

Success by my definition is having the largest effect with the smallest amount of effort. This is easily shown by the way the world works. Those with excessive amounts of money and resources have their efforts continuously scaling downwards as their effects on humanity rise. A perfect example of this would be those who have “Star” status. For example Miley Cyrus, she does something that countless women have been doing for years but because of her status it has a global effect.…
