The most stressful situation I had recently as a student was preparing for an examination. I cannot recall a time when it was exciting and happy yet depressing and scary at the same time as this examination will determine what my future would be like. I can still remember the days when I started my day worrying about the future as D-Day approaches me closer. These walks actually worked wonder to me as it took my mind off my studies and helped relieve the stress level that was building up in my body. This method made me think of my life in different scenarios and helped build me into the person I am today and what I would like to be in the future. Besides that, funny videos or movies have also proven to work for me as I’m able to laugh off all the stress and continue preparing myself for D-Day. In addition, my most effective yet risky method to relieve my stress is to take short naps. After trying it, I found it superior to my personal method as it is less time consuming. This Mindful-S.T.O.P allows me take my mind of the stressful moment and just look around my surrounding. To me, this doesn’t just work as a way to relieve stress but also serve as reminder to enjoy the moment and the present instead of thinking of the future.
In addition, the progressive muscle relaxation (PMR) doesn’t just help relieve stress but it also helps to stretch the muscles which help relieve the stiffness and tightness of muscles. I still remember the days when my body was aching and in pain after studying for a long period on the same posture which made me more stressful as I am unable to do anything after that. But since using this method I have not experience any body aches and is able to enjoy some of my hobbies after a long day.
Lastly, the days when I feel stress and angry whenever I’m unable to find something are gone since Now-ing. By using now-ing, I can easily retrieve or find things where I last placed them without having to search the whole room. Now-ing has allows me to focus on a thing at one time especially during times when I’m absent
