THE DEFINTION OF GENEROSITY Developing the generosity trait can and will impact a person life in way that will amaze them. Generosity; as defined by Merriam Webster Dictionary, is “the quality of being kind, understanding, and not selfish: the quality of being generous: especially willingness to give money and other valuable items to others.” Generosity, when first incorporated, gives new perspective to ordinary luxuries most likely that have been taken for granted. During life people develop and grow through the experiences and influences around them. Being an example of “generosity” to children will have great influence into the type of adult they will become. Getting involved in church missions is a great way to show generosity. On a smaller scale, the simple act of donating food to a food pantry will bring joy to others. However, the felling of selfless generosity is life changing regardless of the scale of the action. Now, channeling that feeling of generosity in the right direction can start a movement. One person can bring huge, positive changes to a seemingly destitute situation. Find others with passion for helping and volunteering. The Avenue Church of Waxahachie, hosts “Be The Church” day every year. The church hands out 40,000 pounds of food with the “no strings attached” motto. The positive energy carries forward through the thousands of recipients. Volunteers of all ages benefit from this wonderful day of generosity. Teaching the quality of generosity is crucial in maintaining harmony among adults. One who has never been exposed to such actions, will benefit from the act. Being on the giving end or the receiving end teaches great life lessons, making the world a better place. Modeling these qualities to young and old has proven to create happiness and inner peace. In some situations, time may be the only thing “valuable” one has to give. Giving “time” for the good of others should not be underestimated. Time is an extremely valuable resource. Generosity is a core value everyone should strive to achieve. Harm is never the intended result from generosity. Positive energy is the intended result. Those who have been shown generosity are more likely to in turn show generosity to others. These actions will make the world a better place. Everyone benefits regardless with side of the spectrum they are on. Generosity is magnanimous.

What is generosity? To some, it's giving more than you have to individuals that might need it more than you do. To others, it's trying to make people smile, or make someone's day a little bit brighter. Being generous does not mean that you have to give money, sometimes you just have to give time and attention. Every person has a different definition of what it means. Anne Frank states that "No one has ever become poor by giving." Is that because being generous makes your heart feel rich? Frank A. Clark says "Real generosity is doing something nice for someone who will never notice." If no one ever acknowledges when someone does a considerate deed for them, why does generosity spread? In this day and age, people broadcast…

    1. There are many virtues in life that one may have. Virtues are characteristics we have that according to Aristotle help us lead the good life. Among these many virtues is generosity. Being generous can help us lead a virtuous life, thus a good one. However what is generosity? Generosity is a virtue but what makes somebody generous? First, we need to understand the most basic part of being generous, and that is the act of giving. In order to be virtuous, one must act, and in this case by giving. Giving to those in need may be seen as virtuous. By helping those in need and giving to them we may accomplish a better life. However, further thinking leads us to understand that giving in itself is not enough. We need to be able to know how to give just the right amount. By giving either too much or not enough we cannot be virtuous. When a person gives too much, one cannot help the other person. The person in need may become dependent on the person who is giving and receiver will not learn to benefit from the generosity. On the other hand, not giving enough is stinginess. It shows the lack of character and can be seen as selfish. Obviously by not giving enough or giving too much, one cannot accomplish the true goal of giving, which is to help others. In conclusion, generosity is one of life’s many virtues and it is seen as the act of giving. We know that the act of giving has to be done in just the right amount in order to be virtuous and have a fulfilling life.…

This statement from, “The Power Of Kindness” illustrates how an individual’s life may change if they become affectionate towards others. Generosity is the key to contentment. If one person is struggling to get things out of the car, the most obvious thing to do would be to help that person. Many people would probably keep on doing their own thing, because not everyone was taught to be kind. Real life situations where people don’t help someone has to do with the way they were raised. Generosity, compassion is a act of kindness, given from your heart and not expecting anything in return. My best friend was going through a really rough time at her residents with her family, so I offered her to stay with me because shes family and my eyes also, if the shoe was on the other foot she would do the same. When i surprise people or just want to see a smile on there face I choose random days, No birthday or holidays because it's a dead give away its expected. So after high school I moved to Tallahasse Florida where I stayed with my cousin Maze. My mother supported me I had no job and sometimes I would go over my budget with her credit card, I was a little irritated every time I would swipe her card she would call and question me about what I spent the money on, which she had every right to do. In between time I got hired at the mall no one knew, I wanted it to be a secret into I knew for sure that I had my foot in the door. Randomly I started sending my mother cards with poems and money thanking her for everything she has done and still does for me and that I appreciate an is willing to give back and express how I feel to her so that we can bond and build our relationship as mother and daughter. With me doing good deeds for my mother and and friends made me want to give back to the community and families that are that are less fortunate. I was feeling in powered by the way I felt spiritually I was floating on the clouds of kindness. I started reaching out more to my grandparents, nephews and cousins that I never meet, so I set up a date for a cook out at my grandmothers to talk to my family and let them know that I love each and everyone of them and I thank them for there support with holding our family together sticking through the rough…

Near the holiday, we set up a Halloween party for the homeless at Morning Star and the neighborhood children. In this event, food was passed out to those people sitting there cold and alone. Some people even donated clothing to them, so by the end of the night, they were filled with warmth which came apparent from the smiles they flashed. I have learned to uphold a greater respect for others than I did four years ago. Some people may hold less respect for these people by the little that they are able to offer, but I gained even more because they’re there accepting help when in their position and some wouldn’t even show their faces. It wasn’t much that we were able to change, but our small deed made them happy even if it was just for a night which they expressed their bountiful…

Of course being kind to others might seem difficult at first. But just ask yourself this question, “Do we really want to live in a happy world?” The answer for most people is yes. Sadly, the solution makes a few of us frown. The gateway to a better world, is giving to others. Think about this: “If you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be happy, practice compassion” stated Dalai Lama. Some of us may feel that, if we give too much, our generosity will be taken advantage of by others. Nevertheless, we can do random acts of kindness like donating small amounts of money to a charity or giving toys to the unprivileged kids, without seeking reward. This not only benefits the receiver, but it makes the world a better place to live in.…

“We make a living by what we do, but we make a life by what we give.” While brainstorming ideas for this essay I came across this quote by Winston Churchill. Even if you are making a good living for yourself, you should always take time out of your day to give back; you never know when you might need someone to help you out. Volunteering my time to my community has always been something I’ve made time for. Not only does volunteering help others, but it can affect your own character. By volunteering you learn social skills, gain work experience, and if you are lucky enough, it will change your life.…

It is man’s general nature to be rewarded, whether psychologically or materially. So to be charitable away public from the public eyes is not encouraging, since no one will know how much we gave. But we need to be “our brother’s keeper”.If God is blessing us, we sould be a blessing to others. The reward is greater in heaven if we make someone’s life better in our own way. Luke chp10:28 says “to love your neighbor as yourself.” So we ought to show concern for others.…
