Scope and Limitation
With the current generation having a child as young as 2 years old who already knows how to use gadgets such as smartphones, it is highly inevitable to feel how much influence technology, more specifically smartphones, have on the society today. Since the evolution of smartphones continues to develop consistently, the group decided to know the factors that affect the view of the current generation consumers through hypotheses testing which the group has agreed upon guided by the factors that the subject has set.
Ever wondered on what specific factors affect the quality and price of a smartphone regardless of its brand? Or on how close the specs of most brands to each other like battery life and etc? First of all what are smartphones? According to Sanne (2009) smartphones are phones which are administered by OS (operating system) which includes Microsoft, IOS, Linux Or Google Android. Smartphone uses an operating system that allows third party applications to run on it. "At the same time, it also summarized that a Smartphone will have more innovative wherewithal compared to normal cell phones which concluded both PDA and cell phone in a Smartphone".
According to Naggle and Holden (2002) the number 1 favtor that affects the consumers is the sole price of the phone. Prices affect consumers a behavioral intentions on how they see the phone even without knowing the real facts on the phone (Aaker 1991). Based on consumer's heuristic, when a high priced phone connotes a high quality and image, as for low priced phones it connoted the opposite.
This paper aims to explain those kinds of questions with the help of some lessons learned in DECSCIE2. Moreover, to give the current generation, who uses and would like to use smartphones, some information to guide them in understanding smartphones more by identifying the factors that different kinds of smartphones have in common. The data gathered have been retrieved from the world wide web to make the process of research easier for the group and to also know the global information on the said smartphones which can help this paper reach out to the consumers outside the country. Methodology
In order to arrive with adequate results about smartphones, the group decided to gather data about 36 smartphones. Six smartphones were chosen from six different brands namely Apple, Samsung, Nokia, HTC, LG, and Blackberry. Different data about these smartphones were collected, some are qualitative while others are quantitative. Such data includes the Operating System of the phone, maximum storage, display size, battery life, processor, and whether or not the phone has intelligent assistant. These data were deemed important in order to come up with hypotheses that will allow the group to make assumptions about smartphones.
The group was able to formulate five hypotheses, one that utilized each of the five given topics namely hypothesis testing: one population, hypothesis testing: two population, chi-square test, analysis of variance, and correlation and regression analysis. These tests were used to manipulate the data available about smartphones and to know whether or not these data affect each other one way or another.
These tests were accomplished in two ways: manually and with the use of technology. The PhStat2 feature of Microsoft Excel...
