Decision Making: Middle Schooler
Although It is important for a middle schooler to start making their own decisions, there are both advantages and disadvantages. An advantage to making decisions is that it makes middle schoolers mature faster and become less dependent on others as they get older. Another advantage to decision making is that if middle schoolers can determine between a good and bad decision when they are young, they will form better decisions in the future. However decision making can also be a disadvantage because when a student makes a bad decision, that he immediately regret he wishes that he had never had to make that decision in the first place. Another disadvantage to decision making is that with more freedom comes more responsibility, and more responsibility

Making decisions can affect a person’s life for better or for worse. Most people will decide whether to eat something or not, but most teenagers today will decide whether to complete their homework or not. Daily decisions consist of what a person will eat, who that person will talk to, where they decide to go, and the list could go on. Mark Twain, a famous writer, expresses decision making with the story Huckleberry Finn. In the story Huckleberry Finn, Huck Finn, a thirteen year old boy, makes decisions for himself, like refusing to have his money, traveling with his new friend Jim, and whether to stay with his new “friends” the King and Duke.…

One way to make better decisions is to make a chart that shows all of the positive and negative possibilities. This will help because the decision-maker will be able to visually see what is good about the decision, and what is dangerous about the decision. If the positive aspects outweigh the negative, then it’s most likely a safe decision. Although, if it is an important decision, the decision-maker should use other methods too to make sure it is a good decision. “‘If you’re struggling with a particular decision, make two lists: what do you gain, what do you lose,’ says Dr. Milt Frank, a psychologist and social worker” (Heiman 1). This quote explains what I meant by making the pros and cons chart. This method can be really helpful, especially when faced with two appealing options. Not only could the decision-maker make a list, but they could also consult someone that they trust to help them make the decision. “When making decisions, it’s always good to talk things through with parents, friends, or trusted adults” (Heiman 2). This quote perfectly sums up my point. Even when talking to a friend that may not be trustworthy, just talking about it will make the decision easier to make. As for parents, they’re always helpful when it comes down to a hard decision. Parents always want the best for their children, so they will want them to make the best decisions possible. Lastly, an easy way to make sure someone makes a good decision is to not be emotional when the decision is made. “Try to look beyond the emotional. It’s important to apply self-restraint and consider the long-term consequences” (Heisman 1-2). In this quote, Heisman makes a really good point. When making decisions, it is common for people to get emotional. In most cases, if someone is emotional while trying to make a decision, they don’t think it through as much as they should. Most people don’t think…

If middle schoolers get the ability to choose not to go to school and take it, they might miss out on many important life facts and how to do important, simple tasks. Middle schoolers should not be able to choose to not go to school because if they miss school, they might not be able to take care of themselves in certain situations when they grow up. A website called “Turning Winds” says,”Children cannot learn effectively without going to school.” Some middle schoolers are very immature and act like they are grades below their own and know little about important things in life. Many middle schoolers also almost always listen or do what their friends do because they are immature and believe whatever…

INTRODUCTION In life, we continuously go though processes of decision-making or selection from available or created options. From a very young age people make various decisions daily. Decision making is at least in part about making trade-offs. Rarely are we given a perfect option, an alternative that perfectly satisfies or meets all the appropriate criteria. Typically, certain options meet some criteria better than others. How do we make decisions about the criteria? How do we decide we would rather give up some of this in order to have some of that? What educational teaching processes could improve pupils’ decision making strategies? Primary education university students…
