Decision Making Critical Thinking Assignment
This week’s written assignment is over multiple topics. First I will discuss asking versus telling and how to use this technique in conjunction with my strengths. Next we will discuss culture and how maybe acting differently with members of other cultures would be better. One of the main functions of my position is to coordinate the annual financial plans and then oversee the execution of the plans within our group. I am responsible to bring the representatives from each area together to discuss how we will move forward with that year’s tasks. I always begin by reminding everyone what we did the prior year and then I ask the group how they want to proceed with the current year’s plan. At some point if the group doesn’t come to a consensus, I must switch from asking to telling them how we will complete the project. All my strengths identified by Strengthfinder.com are assets to being an inquirer. Adaptability would allow me to be able to adjust my thinking based off the input provided to me. My restorative strength reflects my ability to deal with problems, the art of inquiry is required in this area. Individualization shows that I already appreciate the fact that everyone is different and has different needs. Communication is key to every question. My final strength identified is my strategic strength. Thinking ahead to every inquiry is imperative.

While I don’t deal with members from other cultures often, I know dealing with different national cultures can be tricky. The language barriers alone can make it difficult to communicate.
