The best gift Ever Has anyone ever asked you the question that what your most favorite gift given by someone? Or something sounds like this? If someone asks me these kinds of questions, then I will immediately say yes. The necklace that my mother gave me on my 14th birthday is probably the most valuable and favorite item that I have ever got. Of course, it is not only because of the quality, but also because of its meaning. Actually, I am always wearing it around my neck even now in order not to lose it. I can say the necklace is a very important and very familiar item to me. I don’t know why, but it makes me feel better whenever I feel troubled or I feel heavy at heart. I just close my eyes and hold the necklace in my hand, then everything becomes alright and I feel much more comfortable than before. I want you to know that I am neither Christian nor Buddhist. The reason why I mentioned this is because I think usually Christians or Buddhists have a religious symbol such as necklace or ring that can make them feel better. Also they believe that it has a power from the God. Don’t they? Although I cannot prove how it gives me strength, I trust that it has a special power. Probably, the necklace is the most precious one of my belongings. I still remember the day, of my 14th birthday, when my mother gave me the beautiful necklace as a gift. It was exactly September 29, 1999 and I remember that day vividly. It was a wonderful day for me. I cannot forget that my heart thumped so fast before I opened the gift box. I took a breath deeply. And finally, I could feel tears in my eyes when I opened it. I could see a fantastic silver necklace inside a box which my mother gave me. Because I was really surprised, I couldn’t say anything when I saw it first. I thought it was the brightest thing or shiny thing that I had ever seen. At least, as I thought. Now I can see it hanging on my

My grandmother originally gave me my promise ring.. One day she took me into Target and I just happened to spot the jewelry counter. At this time I really didn’t have any fancy rings that I could wear daily, and I wanted one so badly. I picked out the perfect one! It was sky blue and shaped like a heart. It was on a white gold ring, and beside the blue stone were tiny little dots of sterling silver that look like a flower. It was perfect since my favorite color was blue and it just had everything I wanted in a ring. But sadly, my grandmother said maybe another time. Disheartened, I turned away and we went on with our trip to Target. However, that Christmas, not to long from our Target adventure, my grandmother surprised me with a ring. Although I argued repeatedly that this could not be the ring I had originally picked out, she reassured me that it was. A couple of days after receiving the ring from my grandmother, I had to get a plate put into the backing because my fingers were too small, and the ring would just slid off. After the ring fit right, looked amazing, and made me so happy, I was finally content with it. At that moment I had decided that I wanted to wear the ring as much as possible. And so, I wore it everyday until I eventually took it off to much and then I wore it only occasionally when I would remember to wear it, and finally I eventually stopped wearing it all together because I forget about putting it back on my finger.…

My watch means a lot to me, and is one of my most cherished possessions which I've ever had. It came about on a beautiful day I decided to escort "shade" my girlfriend to the Mall for some window shopping. That same day was my birthday. I had never celebrated my birthday, and I still didn't see any reason to do so that day. We checked as many things as we could in most stores, although we had no money to purchase one single thing. We walked into this particular jewelry store which Shade had always talked about in the past. I really had no love for jewelries, so for me, going or not going to that jewelry store, really made no difference at all.…

My favorite object is a hand-made purse which I received in Cambodia last winter. As a member of a charitable organization, I signed up for an international voluntary camp and was assigned to Cambodia. This was the first time I traveled abroad. With a huge expectation and a bit of anxiety on the plane, I cannot help imagine what I am going to face later. No sooner had we arrived the local school than the students enthusiastically welcomed us at the gate. We taught some poor children after class to improve their English ability. They were such active students that showed their eagerness to learn. It really touched my heart. I have not only broaden my horizon but have also developed a strong attachment with those innocent kids during the ten days. Therefore, when it came to the day to leave, my eyes were filled with tears and felt rather reluctant to separate from them. To my astonishment, they held a farewell party for us, giving me a knitted colored purse which was made by themselves.…

I was given a puzzle a couple of months ago from a friend of mine, it had 1,500 pieces. I haven’t put together a puzzle since I was a kid. Isn’t it funny how we stop doing certain things when we grow up: puzzles, coloring, playing dolls, hop scotch, hide and go seek. Things that brought us so much joy as a child, we stop doing when we reach a certain age - it’s a shame, isn’t it?…

The most treasured possession for me would be an old fashioned classy watch given by my grandmother ten years ago. My grandmother bought this watch fifty years ago for my grandfather, for his forty year old birthday. It was made by “Galaxy & Co”, rectangular shape style, has black leather straps and their names engraved at the back of the watch. The watch was very popular back into 1960’s because it was a “limited edition” watch. However, the price of the watch is not the reason for me to treasure it so much, the story behind it is more important and valuable to me.…

My necklace was a gift from my mom and I always wear it and rarely take it off. So I guess you could say it has that special effect to it when its around my neck since it was a gift. I always have a wallet in my back right pocket, ever since I was a little kid, even though I had nothing to put in it as a little kid but maybe some pictures and a dollar or two because nothing was more important than trying to be like dad with a wallet. Now I’m just about 17 and my wallet serves its purpose so its kind of like a necessity since I store my, cards, ID, and money inside that leather flap. A wallet probably doesn’t that important, since every man carries one but I am very protective of it since I earned everything in it and I have a mini panic…

Boorstin also says that, “Dissent is the great problem of America today.” That reminded me of the book that we read over the summer, The Lord of the Flies. Jack and Ralph show dissent by nearly killing each other, never finding a common ground on how to run the island, and they can never just talk to one another. There always has to be something that’s said through another character, and soon gets back to the other character. They’re arguing never got them anywhere, and that’s why that example is an example of dissent.…
