Argumentative Analysis Response Sheet Stanley Risinger We Need Trauma Centers
I) Due to the advanced state of industry a number of devices and machines have come into common use which, often through intentional misuse, results in very serious injuries. II) The author is writing for the possible future victims, of serious accidents, that may incur serious injuries. III) The purpose of the essay is to help save the lives of victims of serious trauma injuries. IV) Instead of having 35 emergency rooms to choice from to take victims, there would be 3 or 4 designated trauma centers. V) The total time that elapses from when the accident occurs, and the victim receives all the proper medical treatment to save his or her life, could mean the difference in the severity of the outcome to the victim. VI) Intentional misuse of devices and machines, example guns and automobiles, if guns were not so readily available and if they did not fall into the wrong hands serious injury could be avoided. Same as irresponsible drivers such as speeders, drunk drivers, and road rage drivers these things make the automobile a lethal weapon. The minutes after a serious accident occurs could mean life or death to the victim, if shock sets in irreversible damage can be done, time is crucial. VII) The logic is to have 4 designated trauma centers geographically placed so if there is a serious injury the victim would have a fighting chance. VIII) The author does a good job comparing the emergency care from a regular ER to a trauma center, this due to all of the things that would have to change, such as purchasing of special equipment, along with skilled employee to operate the equipment and he also notes, how many man hours would be saved and lost, waiting on trauma patients.
The author concedes that the best reedy for this situation would be to designate “Trauma Centers” Instead of thirty five emergency rooms taking care of the critically
