Death of a Salesman To watch Death of a Salesman on a live Theatre was like seeing a reflection of the book with its characters coming to life. The incredible cast made sure to put personal life aside to perform at their peak, and the lighting crew set the mood of the story precisely right for the character. The play was adequate not good, because of the theater. The cast made a few miniscule mistake during the play, but nothing to major that could interfere with the play itself. The audience was surprisingly upstanding with no major interruption during the play, but it was seen that people could come in even when the doors were close it was an embarrassment to the cast but they were professional and did their best. The characters are what made it interesting for me, during the play it looks like there having trouble getting change, because of the theater it’s an open space on the middle of the room the characters where the changing outside little far away from the actual stage. The characters got the right amount of attention they deserved, because they were clear and really straight forward introducing their character. The cast was really well built with the right amount of racial, cultural, and different personality creating for a balance, because seeing the audience response wright to each act became clearer that if this was a one culture and race cast for Death of a Salesman the mood might have been in favor of that specific ethnic attraction instead of all ethnicities. All of the cast including costume design, produce, technical director, and the running crew/costumes etc. made it all possible for the character to focus on their line and expression witch was amazing to see live is hilarious and sad in my opinion, because you have a group of college cast student acting out Death of a Salesman knowing how painful it must off been for this family having a drunk dad with adultery in his pocket and a son that can be

They play was quite an interesting play with its use of comedy and tragedy. The actors did a terrific job on portraying the characters. The set was small so it was much easier to see their reactions. The introduction to the play was pretty unique with those people in tight pants and glitter all over everybody in the lobby. They never broke character no matter what went on in the lobby. Later they used as prompts on stage which was pretty interesting because at times I was so into the play I forgot they were there acting as a car or a door.…

As soon as I entered the theatre, it was completely packed. I also saw many people from different age groups; this gave me a feeling that the show would be entertaining enough to get people from all ages to come and see the show. The environment of the theatre was very formal, as there was a red and gold layout and it was also very clean.…

This was the first play or theatre performance that I have attended. I was unsure of what to expect, but I heard great things about this play. Furthermore, the first aspect of this production that caught my attention was the design of the set. The design gave the feeling of a run down urban neighborhood by making the outer parts of the stage look like an old brick building. The building looked like one you would find in a low-income area or projects. The scenery of the play set the stage for what type of production this would be. I especially liked the way they carefully chose not to place just any kind of props on the stage. The dusty floor, old couch, and the mattress for a bed made the apartment look worn and rundown. This play showed some very realistic designs for the time period and life of some low-income individuals struggling to make a living or hustle. This is especially true when Lincoln pointed out that Booth had no running water and he felt that he was in a third world country. I was impressed by how they were able to make the apartment appear so old and the items in it seem battered. I really thought I was peeking into a real bedroom not just a set. Also, the way the set was designed it makes sure that the individual watching the play is focused on the stage and the characters. There is not a point in the play where my eyes left the stage or the actors.…

To be completely honest, I would have to say that majority of the acting was very mediocre. I know it wasn’t supposed to be like something off of Broadway but I expected a lot more, and I felt like only a couple of actors came through with that. The acting was not terrible, but it wasn’t spectacular either. I felt like some characters were not putting their all into their characters. I also felt like some people should not have been casted into the roles they had received. Many times a background character would outshine a main character during the performance. Pertaining to the acting, I think that the fact that it was a musical added more stress to the actors which consequently could have placed a strain on their acting abilities. This is because they were most likely more concerned with their vocals. Something I did like in their acting was the fact that they used little children, I found that very adorable.…

The piece was extremely clever how they only used four actors during the entire show. This brings me onto costumes. The costumes in this production were very bare and essential for quick changes while on stage, and this gave the play a comic feel because they changed on the stage in front of the audience. Many times the costume was a plain suit and the actors played different characters by simplistically putting so a hat, coat or a prop. I enjoyed this because it helped me associate different characters with the little bit of costume they had.…

In my opinion, the most successful aspect in this play was the actresses, not just because they were good, but rather because they were incredibly believable. I did not feel that I was watching actors on the stage, rather that I was watching the lives of the six individuals unfold. They became their characters. A perfect example of this can be seen when Sabrina Hyman, who was playing the part of Truvy, was decorating the salon for Christmas and had to improv. While placing tinsel on the couch she was unable to keep it on the desired spot, because it kept falling off of the arm. Initially when she realized that the tinsel was not staying in its place she did not panic, as one would have thought. Instead she simply tried again, and then even a third time without showing any signs of a problem, she had to finally walk away without properly placing the tinsel where it should have been. This quick change in events did not throw her off in the least; she played it off like nothing was wrong. She played it off, as Truvy Jones would have in real life. Although I did feel that the acting in the play was truly amazing I did have two problems, and a couple of instances where I was given a…

To state that the playwright by Arthur Miller, Death of a Salesman cannot translate or cross cultural and racial boundaries is complete ignorance and goes against what makes this piece of literature a classic. The timelessness and universality of a work of literature is what makes it great and stand the test of time. If Death of a Salesman did not have this “universality,” this ability to translate to any audience within any time period then it would not be thought of as classic American literature and would have certainly not been performed around of the world in several difference languages as it was throughout the years.…

“Death of a Salesman” by Arthur Miller is a play with a lot of symbols and and themes. This play is wrought with symbolism from the beginning of it, from the first, opening scene. Symbolism is a very important part of this play, it illustrates Willy’s whole life, all his successes and failures in life. A lot of the symbols are either symbolizing something wanted but impossible to reach, or some goals in life and Willy’s future. Symbols could be found almost everywhere in the book. They are representing Willy’s desire, attempts to be a successful man and his impending failure.…

Did you enjoy the production? Why or why not? I really enjoyed this production. The cast brought a lot of emotion to key lines and brought them to life. The suicide of the son, and the conflict over racism; kept my attention by making me uncomfortable. I wondered what stupid lines certain characters would say to increase the anger. Clybourne Park really made me think about racism. Act I made me feel like I was there in the 1950’s, in a time I really don’t understand. The students at Montevallo did a great job in performing the play and pulling the audience into the story.…

All together though this play was a very powerful play with a lot of deeper intentions that were able to be explored because of the breathing power and use of body postures that showed of way more than what the script had on it. In other word it truly showed the way that the actor amazingly displayed all of the methods that we were taught in class. And it was truly a great learning experience watching how they portrayed the play as a…

The character's placement throughout the performance was perfect. For instance, when Marisol appeared back on stage there were homeless people evenly spread out. Due to the specific settlement of the homeless, Marisol had nowhere to run; everywhere she turned there was an aggressive person near her. That was actually a bit scary because it triggered this sense of being trapped within me, which is not a nice feeling. Also, the exits and entrances of characters were smooth and connected.…
