The issue in this song is about the issue of poverty, natural disasters and war that have been caused by or not handled properly by a world leader who is selfish.
Dear Mr. President is means that Pink is disappointed by the way the president at the time did things. George Bush was too selfish and he made America a sad country. He didn’t care that he hurt people. He took the children away and he just stood there watching people suffer and did nothing about it. He hated everyone who was different. He saw people suffer, and only cared about himself.
How do you sleep while the rest of us cry? How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye? How do you walk with your head held high? Can you even look me in the eye? And tell me why. This is saying how he should feel grateful, and has it better than others. It’s also saying that he has let bad things happen to people in his country and how he can say he’s a good person/president because of it and wether he’s man enough to own up to it.
