My feelings of those weekends use to be that they were boring, yet thinking back now I can feel that those weekends were rich in family tradition and were a lot of fun. We would tell scary stories while we were all gathered around a warm campfire on a crisp night, eating smores after a long day of swimming and fishing in the lake water. Waking up the next morning to the smell of breakfast being cooked by our mothers and grandmother on an open fire pit. Later on we would all gather to play an exciting game of baseball. The smell of the baseball diamond clay, the cheering from my elderly family watching on and the little kids saying that they can’t wait until they were old enough to play. These days truly were wholesome fun that I will never forget.…

My Aunt Caprice owned a large house and a couple acres of land which my brother and I would roam anytime we visited. Every Christmas Eve my mother would drive us over to Aunt Caprice’s house to visit her family and other close family friends. My Uncle Roger would take me around the property and let me collect chicken eggs for him. This taught me the value of hard work and was a humbling experience for me in my youth. My cousins, Bryan and Brent were very close to my brother and I, we would often hang out in the backyard either jumping on the trampoline or playing video games with each other. Some of my favorite memories were spent at that house, especially on Christmas to see family or just to go over and watch Dallas Cowboys games with…

This visit was much different than the others, he did not come to the door and my grandma was drinking her coffee and did not hear us at the door. I walked in and my grandma said “shhhh your grandpa says he is busy watching a movie” I just laughed because my grandpa never watched T.V. My grandma said the since he had been on the oxygen tank all he does is watch T.V. So we sat down and visit with my grandma for a little while. Then I heard the T.V. shut off. My grandpa walked out and said “WOW I did not know you were here, how was your drive”. I just laughed and asked him how his movie was; he sat down and told me that I needed to get a Wilson. I was like a Wilson, what is that? He told me that I needed to watch the movie “Cast Away” with Tom Hanks, to understand what he was talking about. He told me that if I got a Wilson I would never be lonely. I just looked at him and said ok I will. About a week after him telling me to watch the movie I did, I then understood what a Wilson was. Wilson was just a simple volleyball that made a man feel as if he was not alone and had someone to talk to. A few weeks after that visit I came back to see my…

We lose people in our lifetime that are dear to us for a specific reason what really matters is that the time they spent with you while they were alive and how you used that time to show them how much you loved them. At the age of nine I lost my great grandpa who was like another father to me. I remember when they had called my mom to tell her he had passed away she rushed to get her things packed. I was worried because she wouldn't say where she was going until after she was gone because she knew we wouldn't have let her go by herself especially since it was my great grandpa. I didn't think it was fair for him to leave yet there were still many things we had not experienced together. My favorite moments were when we would go to get candy at the little shop that was around the corner from his house in Mexico. The very last time I saw him was two years before he had passed away I couldn't bare his passing. I didn't get a chance to see him one last time because he had passed away when we were still in school my parents wouldn't have taken us out of school to go to Mexico for his funeral. I couldn't forgive myself for not seeing him at least one last time even if he wasn't alive it would've of meant the world to me to at least be beside him.…
