Instructions:
Create one activity that is developmentally appropriate for preschoolers (children ages 3-5 years old). The activity needs to meet all the developmental PILES and be supported by theory. Lay out the activity below and analyze the activity by answering the questions below:

Child-side scissors
Container
Fine-art poster
Stegosaurus from winter fine-art poster set
Paper plate
Photo card #27 from winter kit
Play dough (green) or ingredients and tools to make green play dough:
2 cup flour
1 cup salt
1 cup hot water
2 tablespoons cream of tartar
Green food coloring (optional)
Measuring cups
Measuring spoons
Mixing bowl
Mixing spoons
Resalable container
Writing and drawing tools

3. Detailed description of activity:
[If necessary, and when children are not present, make play dough in advance and place in a resalable container.
[Display the fine-art poster and photo card at children’s eyes level in the creative arts center.
[Place cardboard scraps in the container.

Description

Invite children to become sculptors in the creative arts center .show children the fine-art poster, and explain that is a photo of a dinosaur sculpture created by a sculptor. The sculpture is called Stegosaurus and is an artist’s idea of what the Stegosaurus looked like. The Stegosaurus had spikes at the end of its tail and triangular plates on its back. Invite children to create Stegosaurus sculptures with play dough. They can also create sculptures of any other dinosaurs they know about or imagine. Children can cut triangles out of cardboard to create the plates on the Stegosaurus’s back .Children can use the paper plates to create bases for their sculptures. As children complete sculptures, display their creations in the dramatic play museum.

a. Physical
Physical Activity demonstrates handedness (preference for using one hand over the other) eye-hand coordination: Coordinates eye-hand movements to perform tasks with precision (example: child traces letters and simple shapes with increasing accuracy .Child copies letters and simple shapes with increasing accuracy. b. Intellectual

Involves children’s abilities to convey their ideas, thoughts, and feelings through speaking and writing as well as their ability to demonstrate early reading skills. The standard in this domain are divided into subdomain that encompass:

c. Emotional
Including expression and regulation of emotions self –concept and self-efficacy and empathy.

d. Social
Including relationships, rule usage and social understanding, conflict resolution. Appreciating diversity and play.

5. Connect to Theory: Which theorist best supports/explains the activity you chose? Choose one and describe how they support your activity. Choose from Jean Piaget, Lev Vygotsky, Erik Erikson, Arnold Gesell, B.F. Skinner or Maria Montessori. Use your text and lecture notes to support your answer.

The activity I chose is Dinosaurs sculptures. Kids lean to work together we pretend have dinosaur in the classroom kids learn how they look. The song dinosaur makes. The theory is the best Jean Piaget stage of intellectual sensorimotor.
