SF's kernevælgere finder man i hvert fald bland Informations læsere

The Rand Corporation for the National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism (MIPT) reveals that there has been a 250 percent increase in terrorist activity from September 11, 2001 to September 2006 alone. If we divide post 9/11 into two phases until 2006, the first phase has 4772 fatalities from terrorist attacks and the second phase has 5177 fatalities (Conetta, 2006). Thus, all efforts to counter terrorism has only effected in their increase. The US war against Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan, Libya, North Korea and others in fact encourages ordinary citizens from these countries to launch attacks against the US comparable or even similar to terrorist’s acts. Instead of solving the roots of the problem such as creating an international atmosphere of peace and justice, anti terrorism campaigns have in fact sowed the…

By 1932, crop prices had dropped per bushel to corn, three cents; oats, six cents; barley, ten cents; and wheat, sixteen cents (terkel-a0a0o8-a.mp3). Farmers thought that if supply could be stopped then the prices would be driven up, leading to the farm holiday movement (terkel-a0a0o4-a.mp3). Men would stop other farmers on highways and destroy produce in an attempt to stop the farm economy (terkel-a0a0o4-a.mp3). In one case, a railroad bridge was burned to stop produce from going to market (terkel-a0a0o5-a.mp3). These acts can be looked at as a form of domestic terrorism. The farmers had been pushed beyond the point of desperation to the point of radicalism. One story, told by former South Dakota Senator Emil Loriks, claims that when a man…

Everyone probably remember the September 11 terror, which is one of the biggest attacks in recent few decades. The attack on September 11, 2001 was an event which shows the violent and damaging effects that race thinking can cause. 9/11 marks not only the terrorist attacks of a select few Muslims, but sparked a fundamental change in the social and political world of America. It represents the perfect example of how governments – in particular, the Bush administration – use race thinking to commit acts of violence while furthering their own ulterior motives. These motives were created far before 9/11 happened, but the attacks served as a trigger point which allowed the government to call for the ‘defence’ of America, and launch their famous campaign, War on Terror.…

This article focuses on the United States foreign policy before 9/11. The article begins by going all the way back to when George Washington was president, and explains how he and other presidents dealt with the terrorists in their day. Then, the article talks about how the United States has had wavering methods on how to fight terrorism. The policies changed depending on the president. There is the ideology that if the United States is directly attacked, then they have the right to “expedite extradition and prosecution” (Atkins) of the terrorist. On the other hand, there is the thought that if you could tackle the conditions that these people face like poverty and government oppression, you could prevent terrorism…

In previous decades, terrorism has been on the rise, and it has only continued to grow since the attacks of September 11th. In 2014, according to The Economist Magazine, over 30 million people were killed worldwide due to terrorist attacks (Daily Chart, 2015). This number is more than double the number of deaths from the previous year. In addition, the U.S. Department of State has over 60 different organizations listed as active terrorist organizations worldwide (Foreign Terrorist Organization, n.d.). In order for an organization to be deemed a “terrorist” organization by the U.S. Department of State, they must not only be a foreign organization, but they must be involved with the execution or planning of activities that have a direct effect on U.S. nationals or U.S. national security (Foreign Terrorist Organization, n.d.). With this threat being the main concentration of the United States over the last decade and a half, and still growing, it is easy to see why this is an area that the United States IC will continue to keep its center of attention on. What does make this more difficult, is the associated…

I, myself, before September 11, 2001 did not know what terrorism was. It is completely a new term for me, and I could never figure how terrible it is. But then, experiencing and witnessing the feeling of losing the one you loved who was a victim of that disaster, I recognized that the world is no longer as safe as before. Today, not only America but also Britain, Spain, Indonesia…became the target of terrorists. The terror tissue is the most challenged thing for all the governments to solve. Even though after September 11, 2001, US has attacked and destroyed a lot terrorists’ bases in over the world, the terrorists still survive and keep aiming to US and its allies.…

Throughout the past century, the United States has faced a multitude of foreign and domestic threats against the homeland. Several of these terror plots have been successfully executed, most notably the September 11 attacks of 2001 and then recently the Boston Marathon bombing of 2013. While a country cannot fully advert such attacks, it is the responsibility of the acting government to defend its people from possible threats. This duty alone is no small task, as the ever increasing globalization of the international community makes the process of identifying and neutralizing so-called terrorists painstakingly arduous. Yet, organizations…

Do you ever have one of those moments in your life in which you will never forget where you were? I remember waking up early on September 11, 2001, getting ready for school and my dad telling me hurry up to watch the news with him. Being in 8th grade at the time, the news really wasn’t something I would watch in the mornings so I knew it had to be something important. Then I saw it. An airplane crashing into a tower, people panicking, and mayhem ensuing in a city very well known to me. When any tragic event like 9/11 occurs, the effect it will have on a nation is tremendous. It left America in shock, anger, and sadness just to name a few adjectives to describe the insurmountable amount of feelings that we felt on that day. With America being such a powerful nation, after recovering from the attack the next ideal step would be to seek retaliation, right? Well on October 7th 2001, the war in Afghanistan began marking the first step in the War on Terror.…

I chose to base three lessons as a project on the rhyme Snow-White and the seven dwarfs from Revolting Rhymes by Roald Dahl, aiming at the 8th grade. The text is authentic, suitable and relevant for children at this age group. It will appeal to a wide range of pupils, and can be a tool for differentiation. I also believe that the pupils can appreciate the humor in the text by experiencing a surprising new context in a well known text.…
