The three-day community immersion held last December 15-17, 2014, showcased the capability of the student leaders in adapting the norms and culture of Brgy. Mangaan, Santol, La Union. The ROTARACT club and Justice, Peace, and Integrity of Creation (JPIC) joint forces in implementing several hygiene-related seminars and demo which are useful in their day-to-day activities. The target audience was the elementary pupils of Mangaan Elementary School who actively participated in the several lectures and demo prepared and organized by the clubs involved. In the first day, the lecture was all about the basics of proper handwashing and the demonstration on the step-by-step procedure through the use of a song. After the lecture and demonstration, the group moved outside the room and concluded the first day with simple games. On the next day, the facilitators lectured about the primary effects of not properly disposing one's waste, and an overview of the causes of Dengue. In this community immersion, the students who participated in the event came to realize how comfortable their life is compared to the families whom they are fostered to in the community. One can see their contentment eventhough they lack a lot of things in their homes, but, their love of family and their sense of contentment is greatly and widely seen during the stay of the students. Compared to the living in the urban area, the serenity of the night is much more peaceful and in their rooms, there is no need of electric fans anymore as the breeze is so cozy and chill. The people who resides at Brgy. Mangaan, are so much hospitable and didn't treat the foster children as other people. They also treated them as their own. The three-day experience was considered to be unforgettable and it is also a learning experience.
