Dangers of a Volcanic Eruption
As the world's population grows, more and more people are living in potentially dangerous volcanic areas. Volcanic eruptions continue to happen and they can cause great threats to life and property. Predicting a volcano's eruption accurately will lead to more saved lives and ensure our safety.
When a volcano erupts it produces many threats. Some of these threats are lava flows, falling ash, and they may even cause other threats like mud and debris flows, or they can cause the climate to change which may lead to tsunamis or earthquakes.
A volcano can cause many horrible things like earthquakes. They can cause mud slides. Mud slides are very powerful. They can destroy cities. Here in the Philippines, when Mount Pinatubo erupted the whole place was covered in mud flow and ashes fall. During the eruption some people evacuated. A volcano can cause many avalanches. While magma is still in the earth's crust it causes cracks on the earth's surface showing the magma. Mud slides are so powerful they can push rocks over or even the strong wall to collapse. Avalanches are sometimes made from when a volcano erupts. Volcanoes can be very dangerous in many ways. Some things volcanoes do are good. If the volcano is an underwater volcano, they erupt and form islands.
The time when Mount Pinatubo erupted during 90’s, I was not able to comprehend why do ashes fall, and do not realize the effects of it to our environment. I don’t even know that volcanic eruptions can also do well to the people. Now I realize that these natural phenomena, no matter how horrible these can be, can also be a marvelous wonder to our mother nature.
Nevertheless, if you weigh the advantages and disadvantages, still, it is a life-taker. Just like what had happened many times here in the country. Nobody could escape the reoccurrence of this unpredictable phenomenon. What we could do is to take care of ourselves by listening to the authority. If we are living near volcanoes, we should be very aware by

Volcanoes are formed on land near coastal areas when a continental plate and an oceanic plate converge. The oceanic plate submerges, due to its higher density, and is pushed deeper and deeper beneath the surface. The high temperature and pressures below melt the rock which creates hot, buoyant magma. Ultimately this magma rises towards the surface and accumulates in a reservoir, known as the magma chamber. The eruption occurs when the pressure within in the chamber surpasses the pressure of the upper rock, magma forces its way through the cracks in Earth’s crust. Magma that is low in gas and silicon dioxide produces thin quickly spreading lava which has a low viscosity, while a magma that is heavily composed of gas and silicon dioxide will yield a thick, viscose magma. The thicker magma builds up and because of this pressure, will cause a large…

Volcanic eruptions can cause damage within hundreds of miles away. The volcano ash's causes airplane engines to fail, destroys crops, contaminates water, and damages electronics and machinery. When the ash touch's the ground, burying everything, sometimes even make's buildings to collapse. Mount St. Helen's produced more than 490 tons of ash that fell over some many miles. All volcanos are dangerous. They are all scattered all over the world and we don't know when they are going to blow. The three volcanos I picked were pretty interesting. The Pavlof is the most active and one of the most active in North America. The Cero Negro is not as big as the other to volcano's I picked. The Tungurahua is a very large and pretty cool looking volcano.…

The local effects of a super volcanic eruption would mainly be extremely high lava and ash deposits, this would affect around 100 miles around the volcano and would cause total destruction of everything in the area, and this would cause untold environmental, social and economic problems in the area, with the majority of people being killed in the eruption. The national effects of the eruption if it did take place within our lifetimes would destroy about 10,000 km squared of land, ash would fall 15 cm thick on every thing within 1000 km of the eruption, it is also predicted that it would kill 87,000 people, 1 in 3 people that were affected would die, again this…

The eruptions, while sometimes are relatively quiet they produce lava flows that creep across the land moving between 2 and 10 miles per hour. These resulting lava flows stream molten rock which destroys everything in its path. It usually moves slowly enough the people can move out of its way. These eruptions can trigger other natural hazards such as earthquakes, mudflows and flash floods, rock falls and landslides. Wild fires and tsunamis are additional hazards that might be triggered by a volcanic eruption.…

There are several causes of volcanic eruptions. When magma forces its way up to the crust of the earth, this causes an eruption (Langley,2006). Therefore, the more scientists learn about magma, the more they learn about eruptions. During certain eruptions, up to 1.5 million tons of lava can be spewed per second(Heenan,2014). This shows scientists how dangerous volcanoes can be. Debris and smoke shoot out of the volcano right before it erupts (A+E network,2010). It would seem that this is enough warning that the volcano is going to erupt.…

Volcanoes may be both harmful and helpful to the earth. They are helpful because, they deposit minerals into the ground to make the soil richer and better for plants. They are also helpful because they can provide as a safe oasis once they have erupted for rare and not rare plants and animals. Although they may be very helpful they may also be very harmful. This is because, of how many could be going off at once. These are just some of the many ways volcanoes help to shape and affect our earth, people, and…
