Dance Creative Writing

I walk around the dance floor awkwardly, looking for groups of people that I know well enough to be able to go and stand with and pretend like I’m part of whatever mind-numbing conversation they’re having. I check my watch for the fifth time in ten minutes, which is making time go even slower. It’s 8:50 I made the rule for myself to drop my first at 9 so I wouldn’t have to take the next until midnight.
“Ten minute’s” I thought to myself “Stuff it”. I pulled out my wallet and reached my index finger and thumb in behind my driver's licence and pulled out one of max’s caps. I had tried them before, they were good, great in fact. I put the cap between my teeth and look around the at the gathering crowd at the “rave” as I pull my water bottle out of my satchel. I open my teeth and let the cap fall onto my tongue just as I flood my mouth with water, making sure to not think too hard about swallowing it.
The next 15-30 minutes always revolve around me trying to occupy my mind with things happening around me because it seems that if you manage to sort of forget about the fact that inside your stomach a bit of plastic is melting and inside that bit of plastic is a substance that once absorbed through the stomach lining gives you one of the best physical and mental sensations you’ve ever
I sit down and start talking to him and his girlfriend for a bit, I’d tell you what we talked about but these sort of trivial conversations seem to go in one ear and out the other for me. And as this rather redundant exchange of words comes to an awkward pause something cold runs over my skin, at first, it feels like a breeze but then there’s something more to it, something electric with a warm afterglow. “this is it” I think to myself.
