Have you ever been on a dance competition team? Because I'm on one and let me tell you something, it is so incredibly hard because you work constantly on dances all day everyday, well it depends on how many classes your in and I forgot to tell you that you have to audition to be on a competition team.

Every year we have to audition to be on the elite team, This year I was so nervous to audition, I kept getting the chills because I knew that I was the next person to go in the audition room. Some people don't make the elite team, but many people do. This is my second year on the elite team, I was in petite for hip hop the year before last year, This year I made teen two for hip hop and junior one hip-hop, I improved so much over the years

Other hard things for dance is the boot camps and rehearsals because the boot camp you never get a break of dancing and the rehearsals are very weekend so you have no free time and plus you have to dance during the week also. Being on the elite team is a huge commitment.

My best friend Deija and I have this word that we say before competition the word is ''trust'. Her and I say it back and forth before we go on stage, she and I say ''trust'' because it makes us confident and we trust that we'll do very good when we get on that stage.

I recommend dancing on a competition team, if you like dancing or like to compete with different people. Being on a competition team is expensive let me tell you that but if its something you love and if you're dedicated, then it's all worth paying for. The dance competitions are very hard but I learned from my experience that you just got to be even harder and stronger at dancing and in your

This was my dream, and it took me blood sweat and tears to make it happen. Coming from a small recreational team, I had the bare minimum to work with, but I took it for all it could offer. Training six days a week, I tore my body up day in and day out. It wasn’t easy, I would cry and lose faith in myself but I constantly picked myself back up and reminded myself exactly what I wanted. I trained for three months before I went to an Identification camp for the USRowing Junior National team where I had to do a 2k erg piece and row on the water. I sat in that room, surrounded by girls who all had the same dream as me and I had to prove that I was the best. I began that piece, and started to fly. I pushed out a personal best that day, and even got the national coaches attention as she stood behind me for more than half of my piece. I spent the next two months training, checking my email every day to see if I was selected. Weeks went by without any sign, making me feel defeated. As I got ready to lift after school, I got an email. As I read it I started crying. I cried of joy, exhaustion and relief. I had been selected to be a part of the High Performance Camp for the…

Likewise football requires a great deal of strength to be able to block the other opposing team in order to take the win. In order for football players and dancers to be able to continuously perform these actions they have to constantly train. Dancers and football players train not only during their on-season, but during their off-season as well. Along with the amount of physical strength both sports take, the mental complexity of each shows major similarities. Both sports require to be at the top of your game no matter what. For instance, whereas football players need to know constantly be aware of where the ball is and where his teammates and opponents are located, dancers must be aware of their body positions, the timing of the music, and their partners positions and moves. Each sport requires a great deal of hand-eye coordination and the ability to be aware of their surroundings. Along with both dance and football requiring an extreme amount of physical strength and mental complexity, they both are two of the most injury prone sports. Dance and…

When I turned three, my mom signed me up for my first ballet class, and I loved it. Moving along to the music brought me joy and fulfillment. My liking for it has gradually grown into a passion. But over the years, I have also noticed a stigma for extreme competitiveness and perfectionism. Something that originally began as a form of worship has transformed into a celebration of the superficial and frivolous. Dancing often creates many concerns for young performers.…

One example of my favorite dance classes is tap class. The reason it is one of my favorites is because my dance class has high heel black shoes with metal taps on the heel and toe that make noise when touching a hard surface. In tap we mostly dance to songs with rhythm or something fast. Tap is very hard but also very fun. There are awesome costumes for this class. The costumes are usually very sharp. I love taking tap even if it is a little hard.…
