Cooperative Career Education Program
This program is important to me because I am interested in taking business courses and improving my dancing so that I may one day have a dance studio of my own. After high school I plan on going to college to pursue a career in dance and business. Dancing has been the biggest hobby of mine ever since I was three years old. My passion for dance has inspired me to try out for numerous things. First thing I have felt in love with was liturgical dancing which is usually seen in various churches. This is a style of dance that I have been doing for about eleven years. Within those eleven years I have choreographed eight of the dances I have performed as a solo and as a group. Cheerleading is another thing that had caught my interest. I have been a part of a cheerleading team

Once I entered high school I took another path in the world of dance, I had decided to try out for the stepping team while taking dance classes at the school. Stepping was a huge transformation from cheerleading for me, it requires a lot more stamina. With liturgical dancing, jazz, modern dance, hip hop, cheerleading, and stepping under my belt, I hope that the skills I have obtain will be a big help to me in the dance world. When I heard that I could be eligible to participate in the Cooperative Career Education program within the Academy for Professional Studies I knew I had to jump at the chance. I feel this program is an excellent fit for me because it gives me more time to be at home with my son. I am a teen mom who goes to school during the day and works at night. While I am working or at school my mom watches my son. My mom had took a leave of absence from her job so that she can take care of my son while I work on finishing my education. My mom has been my biggest supporter throughout this whole year so for me to get a chance to partake in this program would relieve a lot of stress from her and it will definitely

“Ballet is a female sport”, “guys who dance are mostly likely gay”, how do we ourselves or heard other associate male dancers with homosexuality? The reality of the dance world is that men are boxed into stereotypes that leave a lasting impression on them emotionally and mentally. Dancing is not only a career but an art form, and dancers are artist. The stigma placed on male dancers is tenting, which can inhibit the portraying of the beauty and purity of their art. The body is a dancer’s tool, as the artist, if their perspective towards the tool turns negative, abuse happens. Males are too often over looked in the subject of body image. History, body shaming, society, and the dance community itself has an effect on body image. Just like females, male dancers need to be educated on the root cause of negative body image and how to overcome it.…

The term captain is synonymous with the term leader. By definition, a leader is someone who is in an advanced position to take the initiative in order to go forth and show the way. A dance captain should be able to make intelligent and creative decisions quickly and efficiently. Being a dance team captain for the Mighty Marching Lions has so much more to do with choreography and precision. Because we are a part of a Christian marching band, our purpose and our duty to fulfill that purpose is ten times greater than that of a traditional marching band. Without God, we would not have this grand opportunity and because of that we have to do things differently than the world would. We as band members are all working towards a goal which is ministering and showing the world the power of youth through the will of God.…

In the beginning of the story, she is introduced as a child with next to nothing and is portrayed to have psychopathic traits. “I want to be a ballerina princess”. You see, the difference between a regular princess and a ballerina princess is the elegance. Ballerinas held an elegance and ferocity during performances that were sensational. On the other hand, Disney princesses always had their happy endings and by combining both, my goal was set. Soon enough, ballet performances and Disney movies about princesses clouded my practicality with absurd idealism.…

Throughout the past two years at Staten Island Academy, this learning environment has given me many opportunities that I could not have gotten at any other school. I'm not the most athletic, but I do very much enjoy playing sports. Here at the Academy middle school, I was able to experience any sport that I wanted to play, without a tryout system. The music and theater program here has given me countless opportunities to better my skills as an actor and a baritonist. I have been able to act in two plays, "Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr." and "Cyrano deBurgershack." They helped me learn the ins and outs of acting, as I was a beginner before I came to the Academy. In the orchestra, I have appeared in 5 concerts, all of which have been immensely successful thanks to our conductor, Ms. Wheatley. There have also been many truly amazing teachers that have guided me to academic success. Specifically, Mr. Levine helps me to understand…

Although I can’t answer all the questions about how I’ll do it, I’m certain that I want to make a difference in the world. Barnard’s atmosphere and its joint theater program are the main factors that have influenced me to apply. Academically, Barnard is known for its intimate learning environment. I’ve spent my entire life going from one close-knit group to the next. Whether it was Taekwondo, Dance, Theater, or The Commonwealth Governor’s School, each of those groups were empowering, nurturing, and noble in their own individual ways. Barnard embodies all of those qualities, which is what I find attractive. Also, the joint-program for theater really speaks to me because it’s my personal belief that collaborative endeavors create true art. It’s true art that touches the lives of those who work on it and those who see it.…

On this paper, I will be discussing a theatrical opera from PBS.org called “IL POSTINO” (The Postman); it was adapted by Daniel Catan from the 1994 Oscar-winning Italian film Il Postino as an opera. The play depicts part of the life of Pablo Neruda’s exile to Italy. Pablo Neruda was a famous Chilean writer/poet who wrote mostly about love, and had communist ideals and ideas which often caused him serious problems. Due to those problems, the poet (Pablo Neruda) had to move to the island of Cala di Sotto. The local postman, Mario a fisherman dreamer meets Mr. Neruda and the plot starts….…
