Daddy's Home Analysis
If any Joe blow were asked if he liked Daddy’s Home he would probably say yes, the critics would tell you otherwise. Out of five critic reviews only one said some good things about the movie Daddy’s Home. None of them said bad things, but none said anything outstanding either. All of the critics had wonderful things to say about Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, but they critiqued the comedy of the movie something terrible. The reviews of the critics had many different viewpoints some giving Daddy’s Home and ok review and others completely trashing the whole movie. One of the main things the critics talked about was weak comedy.

Will ferrell is a wonderful comical actor but this movie does not show off his comedy skills. According to John

The comedy in Daddy’s Home does not compare to the comedy in other movies that Ferrell and Wahlberg have done together. The Other Guys was one of the most comical movies that the acting pair has done and completely blows Daddy’s Home out of the water. “ In the universe of Will Ferrell films, it's helpful to think of Daddy’s Home as the misbegotten love child of The Other Guys and Kicking and Screaming” (O’sullivan). Wahlberg has done many movies serious and funny alike but Daddy’s Home does not show the potential that Mark Wahlberg has for comedy. The movie Daddy’s Home is like a lump of coal in your stocking in your stocking compared to The Other Guys. Both Wahlberg and Ferrell are great actors and both have done phenomenal work in the past, but Daddy’s Home does not show them off. The director of this movie holds the actors back and does not let them show off their comical styles. Will Ferrell is sometimes considered the Godfather of comedy even though Daddy’s Home does not show his full comedy potential Ferrell is still one of the funniest actors of all time. Not only was the comedy weak and the actors were held back but this movie is not a family friendly …show more content…
The mood of the movie is heating between Dusty and Brad throughout the entire course of the movie, but the mood changes when Dusty meets his match. Dusty’s new wife and daughter are visited by the biological father of his new daughter and he proceeds to treat Dusty the same way Dusty treated Brad in the beginning of the movie, changed his bad boy tone. Dusty learned that even tho Brad is only the stepfather of his children he still makes a great father figure for his 2 children. The whole moral to this laugh free vulgar comedy is that a stepfather can be just as good as any father figure can be. No matter if the stepfather comes in at a low time in the family's life and the children do not like him at first the stepfather can make a wonderful father figure if he puts in the time and effort the family deserves out of a father. In the movie Daddy’s home Dusty realizes that Brad is as good of a father as any and will be good to his children. So all in all even in a heated battle between stepfather and biological father, when all the dust settles it is no surprise that a stepfather can be a great father

    Kevin Smith's Clerks

However, Clerks' narrative is filled with sharp, funny dialogue, and people seem to have an emotional attachment to it. Meanwhile, Yoga Hosers jokes and narrative falls flat. For some reason, Smith seemed to think it would be HILARIOUS if everyone spoke with a super stereotypical Canadian accent, which I’m certain no one has found funny since the south park film came out. Also, every time Johnny Depp appears onscreen a mole is in a different place on his face, Ralph Garman delivers a series of cringe worthy celebrity impressions literally every time he opens his mouth, and on top of that there are Satanists wanting to sacrifice the Colleens to please their leader (apparently, Smith was high af when he wrote the film – that’s an actual fact). The Colleens were also stereotyped. The Colleens were basically everything that older generations hate about my generation; always on their phones, hates everyone and thinks everything is basic. I can only assume that Kevin thought it would enhance the comedy of the film as well as relate to the target demo such as myself. Lily-rose Depp and Harley Quinn Smith play their parts well. Both are funny and spirited and their real-life friendship shines through, which made the film more enjoyable, but Kevin Smith’s lack of narrative and vison fails to bring the best out of them as they were overshadowed by the dumb story which just…

The most important criteria for judging this film is the great casting. The cast was excellently picked. Actors in a movie must be believable and able to pull their roles off extremely well. If not, the audience will become bored and uninterested. Jim Carrey does perfectly. In this film, he is absolutely brilliant and deserves extensive praise for this role. Kate Winslet…

The producers couldn’t have hired better actors for the roles of Thomas and Victor and the script was as if it wasn’t even a script. It seemed like it just came so naturally to the characters. If someone came to me asking for examples of a movie with really good acting, I would probably recommend this movie, but otherwise. I would say not to waste your time and watch something more enjoyable, like the romantic comedy “The Wedding…

The problems start with James Franco, who plays lead flyboy in the story of American airman flying for the French during World War I. It's based on a true story, which has kind of become the de facto excuse for making bad movies. Hey don't blame us! That's the way it is. Right. I'm not buying it. Franco plays a Texan with a southern accent that drifts in and out as if propelled by the wind. Sometimes he's a flying cowpoke, sometimes he's James Franco. Mostly, he's just bad at doing anything other than looking James Dean good.…

My mother said she had never seen a worse film in her life. From the clothes, the hair, and the music (by none other then Cyndi Lauper) it just screams the 80s, a time in my opinion when people knew how to have fun and honored great cinematography. My friend Jake says that the Goonies is "one of the worst legitimate films ever made", I think he was drunk or something. I mean this movie does everything a great movie is supposed to do, and does it ten times better. I almost forgot the most important part about this movie, the fact that it was directed by none other than Steven Spielberg. Everyone had a friend like Data, the smart kid with the imagination to match his IQ, and who can forget Chunk who was the fat, clumsy, funny, but lovable friend who you could always count on for a laugh. This movie captures all…

Matt Demon plays the main character Will Hunting while Robin Williams and Ben Affleck play supporting roles as a psychology professor and best friend. The movie introduces Will as a janitor at MIT that is much smarter than he lets on. In fact, Will Hunting is a mathematical genius. Stellan Skarsgard plays a professor at MIT named Gerald Lambeau. Professor Lambeau decided to put an unsolved equation outside his classroom for his students to try and figure out but it was Will who solved it in just a few short minutes. For obvious reasons, this caught Professor Lambeau’s eye.…

I chose the book Little House in the Big Woods by Laura Ingalls Wilder and illustrated by Garth Williams. This book was first published in 1932. I chose this book at random from my grandmother’s house over Thanksgiving. I knew that she had all of the books and my sister had used my grandmother’s collection to read them all when she was younger. I just chose the first book that I saw and I really lucked out because it looked interesting. I felt that I could not go wrong with any of the books because they are widely praised for being great reads. This was the first time that I was reading a book from the collection. I had been interested in other titles when I was younger so I never became interested in these books.…

Under the expert direction of Judd Apatow, the humor keeps coming throughout the movie. On the occasion when a gag fails, it is quickly forgotten. None of the jokes in this movie are drawn for so long that they lose their punch. (With maybe one exception - the "I know you're gay because..." parts) Most of the material is about sex, with some of the funniest bits involving Andy's first encounter with a condom, his drive home with a drunk girl, his waxing treatment, and his "date" with himself. The movie is rated 14-A, which is one of the reasons it is so refreshing.…

Aside from the scene where Napoleon gets hit in the face with a steak, the style of humor in the movie is not obvious. It is all very subtle and is not going to jump out at you. How the writer and director thought this movie would end up being funny is unbelievable. On the surface and on paper, no part of the movie sounds like it would be remotely funny at all. It is the actors execution of their roles and interaction with other characters that pull off the humor that enriches the film…
