Dac, Dac0808 and Adc
Bipolar DAC(digital-to-analog converter)
In electronics, a digital-to-analog converter (DAC or D-to-A) is a device that converts a digital (usually binary) code to an analog signal (current, voltage, or electric charge). An analog-to-digital converter (ADC) performs the reverse operation. Signals are easily stored and transmitted in digital form, but a DAC is needed for the signal to be recognized by human senses or other non-digital systems.
A common use of digital-to-analog converters is generation of audio signals from digital information in music players. Digital video signals are converted to analog in televisions and mobile phones to display colors and shades.
DAC0808
The DAC0808 is an 8-bit monolithic digital-to-analog converter (DAC) featuring a full scale output current settling time of 150 ns while dissipating only 33 mW with ±5V supplies. No reference current (IREF) trimming is required for most applications since the full scale output current is typically ±1 LSB of 255 IREF/256. Relative accuracies of better than ±0.19% assure 8-bit monotonicity and linearity while zero level output current of less than 4 µA provides 8-bit zero accuracy for IREF>=2 mA. The power supply currents of the DAC0808 is independent of bit codes, and exhibits essentially constant device characteristics over the entire supply voltage range.
ADC Converter Circuit
Normally analogue-to-digital con-verter (ADC) needs interfacing through a microprocessor to convert analogue data into digital format. This requires hardware and necessary software, resulting in increased complexity and hence the total cost.
The circuit of A-to-D converter shown here is configured around ADC 0808, avoiding the use of a microprocessor. The ADC 0808 is an 8-bit A-to-D converter, having data lines D0-D7. It works on the principle of successive approximation. It has a total of eight analogue input channels, out of which any one can be selected using address lines A, B and C. Here, in this case, input

There are so many new devices that allow the analog to digital, and digital to analog communication. These devices are needed to make the signal proper and allow for no noise on the line. This is what we call signal to noise ratio. Some of the hardware needed is some basic things, a modem is needed at a home or business, this turns analog to digital and vice versa. There is also components called DAC which means a digital to analog converter along with a ADC, which stands for analog to digital converter. These devices are needed to ensure the right signal and clear as well. The main thing digital signal uses are the binary code which is…

Starting in the late 70s to the early 80s, several types of video production equipment- such as time base correctors (TBC) and digital video effects (DVE) units (two of the latter being the Ampex ADO, and the NEC DVE)- were introduced that operated by taking a standard analog video input and digitizing it internally. This made it easier to either correct or enhance the video signal, as in the case of a TBC, or to manipulate and add effects…

In order for this conversion to take place, an analog-to-digital converter (ADC) is necessary. This component is essential because it is responsible for receiving the analog signal as input and sending a digital signal as output. The ADC receives an analog signal such as sound, voice, or voltage and transforms that signal into a binary output. This output is the digital signal that has a state of either on, which is represented by 1 or an off state represented by 0. ADC is used in more occasions than people think. For example, whenever music is transmitted through the radio, the signal is sent in as analog and then through ADC changed into digital. Another example is the use of phones. Voice is analog, so a conversion needs to take place at the switch to convert it into digital. Analog is an older technology that is still widely used, so it is important to know how to convert it.…

When the conversion takes place between analog and digital it becomes the base of all communication technologies. Just about all hardware uses digital so it is very important to convert analog signals into digital to perform support for hardware applications. All hardware devices are aimed to be digital. Therefore, devices in the future will not need conversion because they will already be digital. There are many examples of analog to digital like a scan picture. The analog information provided by the light present in the picture is converted to digital signal to complete the process. The digital conversion use the means of binary coding for data transmission and output. The digital signals work only by using only two numbers known as one and zero (Analog to Digital). When users convert the signal to digital it allows plenty of data to be stored on a single device. This help save bandwidths and space. There are seven ways that signals are structured; direct conversion, ramp compare, successive approximation, delta encoded, pipeline, time stretch, and sigma delta. When the hardware uses one of those signals the destination hardware will find the best data encryption and utilization. The most common analog to digital conversion are the digital TVs, cameras, and other video captures. The newer microcontrollers’ technologies are used to convert analog to digital by reducing the size of the chip to get a better signal.…

There were many changes since the 3000 BC, when humans were still using papyrus as a piece of paper and using drawings to illustrate what they meant. You see, now we are already using emails or social networking sites to communicate with friends or teachers. During the 2400 BCs when they still used the postal services they need to wait for a couple of days depending on the effectiveness of the service. Now, a message could be delivered in just seconds, using emails or the widely popular Whatsapp to deliver the message across to anybody in the whole wide world who is internet enabled (3G enabled or Wi-Fi enabled). All these changes have affected our lives and the society greatly. If one day you need to call an ambulance to your house because you granny had a heart attack, imagine we still have to wait for very long (30 minutes? 1 hour?) for it to arrive. Won’t your granny be dead by then?…
