Unit 37 assignment 37.1
A flip book is a book with a series of pictures that vary gradually from one page to the next, so that when the pages are turned rapidly, the pictures appear to animate by making motion or some other change. This is called persistence of vision. Flip books are mainly created as books for children because they enjoy to be involved in the book. There may also be books made for adults. Flip books are normally made from one book but sometimes they can be added features in a book or magazine. The book is made by a person drawing a picture on a piece of paper in a book, and then on the next page, drawing the picture again but with a very slight alteration. Advantages of flipbooks

An advantage of flipbooks is that they engage the reader so they can join in and be part of the book. Another advantage is that anyone can make a flipbook; the only difference is that more artistic people will make better books. Flipbooks are also very cheap to make as they only require a notepad and pencil, unless someone wanted to make a more professional one. If they did than this would include colours and maybe other drawing/measuring objects.

Disadvantages of flipbooks
It’s hard to do as you wish and you must be a good drawer or the pictures will not appear to be animated. Also, you have to draw the same picture continuously with only minor adjustments and this is a disadvantage because it takes a lot of time, concentration and patience to make a good flipbook. Finally, if one page is wrong than the book will not look as professional as some parts will be out of place and it will not run as smooth.

Examples of a flipbook in use
This is a flipbook of Cristiano Ronaldo which shows him doing skills and scoring goals. This is a very professional flipbook and a lot of hard work and effort would have been put into making the book. The audience is for football fans that are fans of Ronaldo. The purpose of this flipbook is to show the audience what Ronaldo has done as a footballer and what he has accomplished in his career. The video meets the target audience by showing a very famous footballer producing his high quality skills and finishing. The technique works by the user holding the corner of the pages with their hand and using their thumb to flip the pages by quickly flipping it onto the next page continuously so the illusion works. The illusion would work for everyone who has a good view of the flipbook but only one person can use it at a time. The purpose of the flipbook is to make an illusion of something moving, which could be anything from someone running, playing football or even riding a horse. The flipbook technique in the animation is used to a very professional standard and is one of the best I have ever seen. This flipbook would have taken months of drawing to get it to the high quality it is. However, not every flipbook is this complicated which means everyone can make one. With this in mind, it means that it has a massive audience as young people all the way up to old people can make and enjoy the flipbooks.

Cell animation
Cell animation is an animation technique where each frame is drawn by hand and not created by a computer. Cell animation was very popular in use in cinemas until computer animation was created and then took over completely. A full length feature film made by cell animation would need hundreds of thousands of drawing, in some case maybe even a million, depending on how smooth they want they animation to look and how long they want the film to be. Also needed in Cell animation is a background, then the moving images are drawn over the top. Each frame has a slightly different image and is changed after the photo is taken

Advantages of cell animation
Advantages of cell animation are that it looks crisper and cleaner; also it has a more detailed look to it. Another advantage is that it has a classic feel when...
