Condoms are preferred amongst most couples and sex partners because of all the benefits and pleasures it brings. Safe Sex vs. Unsafe Sex

    • 4 Pages

A recent Canadian poll revealed widespread ignorance of the fact that AIDS is primarily a sexually acquired infection, not caught by touch. The survey showed that although sexual intercourse has risen steeply in the past 10 years, less than 25 percent of adults aged 18 to 34 have altered their sexual behavior to protect themselves against AIDS, i.e. by consistent use of condoms and spermicide. THE CENTRAL MESSAGE IS CLEAR: UNLESS ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT YOUR SEX PARTNER IS HIV-FREE, USE A CONDOM (latex, not made of animal material) plus a reliable spermicide. Studies with infected hemophiliacs show that condom use by a regular sex reduces infection risks, compared to unprotected sex. And regular use may bring the added reward of preventing other sexually transmitted-diseases such as gonorrhea and chlamydia or unwanted pregnancy.…

Tampax, Tambrands’s only product, is the best-selling tampon in the world, with 44 percent of the global market. North America and Europe account for 90 percent of those sales. Company earnings dropped 12 percent to $82.8 million on revenues of $662 million. Stakes are high for Tambrands because tampons are basically all it sells, and in the United States, which currently generates 45 percent of Tanbrands’s sales, the company is mired in competition with such rivals as Playtex Products and Kimberly-Clark. What’s more, new users are hard to get because 70 percent of women already use tampons. In the overseas market, Tambrands officials talk glowingly of a huge opportunity. Only 100 million of the 1.7 billion eligible women in the world currently use tampons. In planning for expansion into a global market, Tambrands divided the world into three clusters, based not on geography but on how resistant women are to using tampons. The goal is to market to each cluster in a similar way. Most women in Cluster 1, including the United States, the United Kingdom, and Australia, already use tampons and may feel they know all they need to know about the product. In Cluster 2, which includes countries such as France, Israel, and South Africa, about 50 percent of women use tampons. Some concerns about virginity remain, and tampons are often considered unnatural products that block the flow. Tambrands enlists gynecologists’ endorsements to stress scientific research on tampons. Potentially the most lucrative group—but infinitely more challenging—is Cluster 3, which includes countries like Brazil, China, and Russia. There, along with tackling the virginity issue, Tambrands must also tell women how to use a tampon without making them feel uneasy. While the advertising messages differ widely from country to country, Tambrands is also trying to create a more consistent image for its Tampax tampons. The ads in each country show consecutive…

    Durex Marketing Plan

    • 2366 Words
    • 10 Pages

The Durex brand is well known and well trusted. So was the company’s marketing strategy. Condoms are most used by the 16 to 35 age group – a group most at risk in terms of sexual behaviour. For an older target group, the relevancy of Durex products wanes. This group is in a different life phase and has different sexual needs. Most people over 35 are married or in long-term relationships and therefore use other protection. While brand name recognition in this group is still very high, the product is no longer considered as relevant.…

Durex is a company founded in 1929 by the London Rubber Company and is currently manufactured by a United Kingdom firm called SSL International. The name Durex represents Durability, Reliability, and Excellence, and it is also synonymous with safe sex. Traditionally condoms were made of oiled silk paper, linen sheaths, leather, or very thin hollow horn (Mark Cichocki, 2015). Durex changed the industry by being the first brand to develop electronic testing for the condoms. This has set precedence for many world firsts that Durex continues to create. Durex also pays special attentions to the needs of consumers by developing a diversified range of condoms. For example, The Durex range includes nine varieties of latex condom, which one of it is categorized as the Avanti condom, the first male condom made from polyurethane; suitable for people who have an allergy towards latex.…
