Rocks are everywhere, they cover the whole earth. It is the foundation of the surface we live in. So, we basically live on rocks. They can be a part of a 5000 old year old ancient pyramid to the cement we walk on under our feet as we take a stroll on the street or in the park. When I started collecting rocks as a hobby a couple years ago, I found that there are many different types of rocks. Just not only the shape, texture, colour and size, but also where the rock originates from. The three different types of rocks are igneous, sedimentary, and metamorphic. Igneous rocks are the rocks that are formed by cooled lava. Sedimentary rocks are made up of grains of sand, mud and pebbles compressed and formed after many years later. The rocks I enjoy collecting are the rough white igneous rocks with specks of silver shine in it. My husband likes to collect a nice flat, round rock that sits in his hand. My older daughter enjoys collecting rocks that are white and have a water-smoothed surface; she believes that when she rubs it, her troubles will go away. My younger daughter likes wishing rocks, it also called quartz veins. The rocks have a stripe running all the way around. Some people believe that if you trace the line with your finger around and throw it after you have made a wish, the wish will come true. But she never seems to want to throw the rock
