Curfew Persuasive Essay

A city council is debating the adoption of a 10 p.m. weekday curfew and midnight curfew for teenagers. If this curfew is adopted, teenagers on the streets after those hours would be considered breaking the law. I support this adoption because we would be keeping the city safer and keeping the young adults safe and out of trouble after dark. To begin with, this curfew will keep them out of trouble after the adopted times. Not saying that we could stop all of them from going out after this curfew and catch them, but we could enforce it very well. It is nothing new that teenagers drink illegally. Some are even so irresponsible and selfish to drink and drive, which more than often happens late at night. So with this curfew, we will see a decrease with the number of young people or teenagers being charged with DUIs and DWIs. Also, not stating that all teenagers are affiliated or related to crime, but we may also see a crime rate decrease if we adopt this curfew. Meanwhile, teenagers who do not have an enforced curfew tend to stay out late and fall behind in school. I believe with this curfew, we would see
Parents often worry or stress about their child, and that’s very normal during parenthood. With this curfew, parents or legal guardians would not have to worry as much about where their child is at during the late hours. Their teenager would have to be home before 10 o’clock during the weekdays and midnight during the weekend or they would be considered breaking the law. Also, we cannot stop all reckless or drunk drivers, so with this curfew we would be keeping them out of the way of danger during the late hours of the night. Most drivers under the influence are caught during the late hours of the night or early hours in the morning.
