Culturally Responsible Pedagogy In The Classroom
My placement was set up at Northwest Middle School, Reading Pa. The makeup of the student community is extremely diverse on the RSD, with an 83% of Hispanic population. The socio-economic background of most students ranged from middle class to low income households. Inclusion was practiced throughout the school and was cause for some very interesting situations. This perspective was useful in my observation for the purpose of understanding students’ behavior and the different techniques that were employed by the teacher to better suite that students learning style.

I translated the pre-reading to make easier their understanding about the text reading. After reading every student have to interact with the model body to find out and distinguish the types of tissues, and every other concept of the vocabulary. Also I grade my group classwork, and help them with the lab during RAE period. Additionally teacher asked me for do phone calls home, so I did three phone calls with “good news” one about student’s behavior.
Being a classroom teacher is a complex profession, and teachers need to be prepared for a very large number of interacting variables per day. On my opinion I considered that incorporate culturally responsible pedagogy in this kind of environment (mix 7th grade class) it is relatively easy, based on my own experience but I understand that for a non-Spanish speaker teacher this can be a difficult challenge to overcome.
As teachers we need to understand that we don't need a different teaching method or curriculum for students based on their race. We can teach the entire class in a way that every students can be related to, using aspects of their own cultures and experiences. One way we can use to incorporate their culture to the class is for example, by listening music, creating posters, making poems etc. That will make them feel welcome and accepted while also would help other students to learn about newcomers’ cultural

    I have had the opportunity to go to two middle schools due to moving locations. This paper is going to be based on my experiences at Hermosa Middle School in Farmington, New Mexico.     During my observation at Oak Park Middle, I observed a 7th grade Social Studies class. Most children n the classes I observed had African-American students. Two classes had to Hispanic girls. There was 31 boys and 13 girls all together in the three hours of classes I observed. The boys always greatly outnumbered the girls in the classes. I believe the students all came from similar socioeconomic background. The teacher was an African-American male. He had great control over his classroom and was able to connect with the children. He had a bellringer for them the first day I observed. The first and third class were quite rowdy when they came in and the teacher had to make them sit down and start their assignment. The second class was much more focused and sat down to their work with barely any instruction. The second observation I did, the students had to do a free write activity.     With me becoming a first time teacher I believe that it is extremely important to be open to new cultures. I want my classroom to be a place students feel welcomed and where they want to share about their own backgrounds with others. There are a couple ways I believe I could achieve these goals.     There are some many different types of cultural diversity in today’s world. With the many different cultures and the many different races there are so many different cultures that are over looked or misunderstood. Cultural diversity is the cultural variety and cultural differences that exist in the world, a society, or an institution. For many kids they will never get the opportunity to be able to learn about the many cultures, this in return keeps them from completely understanding their many classmates as well as they grow up understanding their coworkers. The government and the school districts have made it difficult for kids to be able to learn about different religions and different cultures. It seems more that the school district want nothing to do with culture as they are afraid of making a parent angry since so many parents seem to have a fit anytime religion is brought up in school. An example is my kids are mixed race and their religion is Muslim but most people do not understand their religion and associate it with terrorism when in fact there are so many Muslims in America who are great people.
