CU2632 QCF Level 2
Health and social care CU2632

When preparing leisure activities with a tenant it is important to involve the tenant in all aspects of the decision making process. The tenant should be offered a variety of options as to what leisure activity they may wish to try. Taking part in leisure activities will boost the tenants self esteem and give a feeling of acceptance in the wider community. Having a variety of leisure activities is important to build confidence and to enjoy a full and active social life.
The support team should refer to the support plan for the individual and adjust the level of care where necessary.
It is important that the tenant be encouraged to widen their range of activities, but it is also important to make sure the activities are appropriate to the needs of the tenant, and any possible difficulties are discussed in advance to avoid frustration.
Discussions could be held with other staff members or the tenants friends and family for opinions and ideas of new activities to try, and how best to encourage them to complete activities.
A review of the activity can take place afterwards to find out what parts were enjoyable and what parts were not. The tenant should be encouraged to offer full and frank feedback. If any major difficulties are identified then the support team should think of ways to avoid or lessen the effects of these difficulties.
If necessary the support plan may be altered to reflect the new levels of support required for the individual activity.
