No Man Is an Island Lyrics
Artist(Band):Joan Baez

No man is an island,
No man stands alone,
Each man's joy is joy to me,
Each man's grief is my own.

We need one another,
So I will defend,
Each man as my brother,
Each man as my friend.

I saw the people gather,
I heard the music start,
The song that they were singing,
Is ringing in my heart.

No man is an island,
Way out in the blue,
We all look to the one above,
For our strength to renew.

When I help my brother,
Then I know that I,
Plant the seed of friendship,
That will never die.
INTRODUCTION:
The final trimester of my stay in the University of San Carlos as a student of the Executive Masters in Business Administration (EMBA) program gave a lot of insights and open new perspectives on the way I look things and on the manner I perceive life. It validated the adage: No Man is an Island. Hence, the title of my final requirement in EMBA 213.

LEARNINGS:
A. The purpose of business is to provide goods and services that benefit society and that Profit is the reward for producing goods and services that contribute to human development (Business Ethics and Corporate Social Responsibility).I used to believe that business exist primarily to gain profit and businessmen do not have the obligation to society. What is the responsibility of a business or corporation? Is it to meet stakeholder expectations and follow legal guidelines, or is there a higher responsibility? While Milton Friedman asserted in his famous essay that “the social responsibility of a business is to increase profits,” it can be argued that companies also have higher moral responsibilities. The question in each ethical dilemma is, “To whom do we have a moral responsibility?”…

In business the primary focus is on maximizing returns to owners or shareholders. The manner in which a business conducts itself while attempting to make its profit can be considered ethical or not. For instance, a business that has a positive sense of social responsibility will make some effort to have a positive impact on society, contributing to the welfare of the community in which it operates in some way or another. Unethical practice in business could include the converse of this, where a business is solely concerned about its profit and does not attempt to mitigate the impact of its operations in that society. For example, a mining exploration company that does not attempt to ease discomfort and inconvenience of the people that are displaced by its operations could be considered unethical.…

First, business can help solve poverty conditions. For the longest time, people view business as a profit-making organization with the goal of creating wealth for the shareholders. But increasingly, the business community has developed a greater awareness of the plight of underprivileged people that need attention and aids. Some businesses incorporate social objectives into their mission, while some others take social responsibility as the main goal. Regardless of the orientation, society has gained significant benefit from businesses’ greater investment in socially responsible causes. These benefits include greater market accessibility to the poor, better environmental protection, and more employment opportunities among many others.…

Which is based in justice and charity; is voluntary; focuses on the human person; is not identified with social action or philanthropy; and which is very demanding for those leaders who wish to put it into practice.”…
