Crooked Smile
She is amazing and probably the most important person I have she is my best friend. She has been my best friend for the last 4 years. I have known her since I entered high school and since that day we have become the most inseparable friends in the world. I have much affection toward her, we have lived many things together, through thick and thin, she always been there for me when I needed her. She is a little taller than me and always makes those few inches a big deal. In her eyes I’m supposed to be the tallest because I’m the oldest which is true sometimes but not this time. She is the type of girl that doesn’t wake up super early to fix her hair; she would rather have the extra sleep. She would rather eat a juicy Big Mac instead of a boring salad because she says “salads are for cows”. She would rather spend the day in her sweatpants and a pain white t-shirt because she find them more comfortable then a dress or skinny jeans. She has those hazy eyes that get you in a trance; her eyelashes are long and beautiful. Her personality is one of the things that. I love about her, she can handle trouble and carry heavy burdens and still have a smile on her face. When she smiles it’s because she feels like screaming. She is a strong girl even when other are not. Her hair has the sweet scent of strawberry and is always messy, even when we go out. She is a very attractive girl in my eye, she is tall but I think that's what makes her look cute. She is normally thick and her skin is caramel .Her touch makes people shudder like a cold breeze of winter, it’s smooth and hasty. Her smile is a bit crooked but it’s a genuine smile, not a lot people don’t see her smile because she hates her smile only the people she trusts see her genuine crooked smile. When she smiles her dimple appears which is the cutest thing because she hates it and tries to hide it but I always notice them. If I can describe her in a few words they would be friendly, respectful, hardworking, and an honest

She’s clever, hilarious, generous, kind, loving, intelligent, and has a strong moral compass. When I look at her, I see hope. Ultimately I see hope for me. While I often contemplate with envy the image of perfection I see in her, I have come to realize that her success story could be mine as well. She gives me an ideal to strive for. Unlike some role models, she is real, I know her well, and we have a shared history. I see her human flaws along with her perfection. In this way her level of success is not some unattainable ideal, but something that I know I have the ability to reach. Her success motivates me to work through my own issues in a way that other people’s success cannot.…

I'm in band class standing at my bass drum in the concluding hours of school. It happens to be a Tuesday on this fine September 18th. Then my ears began to ring. I guess since I'm so use to loud banging drums, my ears ring, I'm not quite sure. I then heard the metallic and electronic sound that is tuned to a B natural, what normal people would call a bell, and dash to the bus stop to meet her. I had recently met this amazing girl, and it turns out that she has a liking for me. Today is the day I am going to “pop the question”. I walk through the crowded hallway of anxious and raucous high schoolers, speed through the lunchroom, and finally head out the back doors of the high school to meet my future girlfriend, hopefully. I push open the metal and beaten up doors to be blinded by the sun; the bus stop was on the west side of the building. Rushing past everyone, I think some people may have said “hi” to me, and ignoring the world. I make a beeline straight toward that beaming smile, short dirty blonde hair and bright blue eyes. She would occasionally wear a scarf or graphic tee. My ears started ringing again as I approach her. I arrive in her embrace and my muffled voice asks how her day was, and she responds with something generic, yet it sounds like an angel. We decide to unwind, therefore we seat our bodies on the bench momentarily. Regular conversation began to unfold, and pretty soon after there was an awkward silence. Now was my chance to request a more serious friendship. I grab her hand, and without hesitation I lead her to a confidential place. I hear my heart pounding like a hammer on a nail, and every step I take is a step closer to great success or great failure. I have butterflies in my stomach. My nervous feeling is even more heightened just because I am in the moment, and there is no turning back. As we arrive and she looks puzzled, but simultaneously she has this look as if she knew every…

The Jaguar Smile: A Nicaraguan Journey written by Salman Rushdie, is a non-fiction book that gives the reader insight to the internal turmoil taking place in the nation of Nicaragua. Salman Rushdie is a British-Indian novelist who gained his fame for his fantastical novels about the post-colonial relationship between cultures of the East and West. Rushdie became interested in Nicaraguan affairs when the Regan administration started its “war” against Nicaragua. “I was myself the child of a successful revolt against a great power, my consciousness the product of the triumph of the Indian Revolution” (p.4). Rushdie made his trip to Nicaragua in July of 1986. He came to know a wide range of people, from the President to the everyday citizens. His perceptions were always heightened by his sensitivity and his unique flair for language. “I did not go to Nicaragua intending to write a book, or, indeed, to write at all; but my encounter with the place affected me so deeply that in the end I had no choice” (p.5). In this book Rushdie brings us the true Nicaragua where nothing is simple, everything is contested, and life-or-death struggles are an everyday occurrence.…

Now I want to tell you a few words about myself. I am 168 sm tall a nice-looking girl with a fair complexion. As for my figure, in my view I am not fat, but I am exceedingly well-fed. My face is oval, I have green, warm eyes and regular, large features. My eyebrows are arched and bushy and my hair is brown, waved and luxuriant. I have got even teeth, a round chin, a broad, open forehead and curving eyelashes. I am a Sagittarius by a horoscope. Frankly speaking, I trust others easily and expect in turn to be trusted. I like exchanging ideas and see the bright side of things. Generally speaking, I am imaginative, creative, and well-read. But I can be hot-headed and cruel with enemies. Apparently, I am a gambler at heart and risky. My parents believe that I am individualistic, very shy and intelligent. From their point of view I am a calm and composed person. But they also think that I can be very idle and irresponsible, because I don’t always help with the household chores. As for my teachers, they think that I am a hardworking, quick on the uptake, average, funny student. They tell me that I seem to be really trying my best to finish my school work and maintain my good grades. Unfortunately, sometimes I don’t pass all my work in on time, and to be quite honest, my teachers think that I am a bit lazy person. And they don’t think I work as hard as I am capable of. My friends think of me as a ball of fire, cheerful and a mixed up person, because I love sports, serials, different kinds of books, films and I am fond of almost everything which connect with mysticism. All in all, just talking and walking with my friends makes me very happy. Some of my friends think that sometimes I am a mean person and a bore. I fully agree with the fact that usually I can me an awful bore but I don’t know why they are sure that I am a mean person. I am a person with strong morals who desires to do the right thing to the entire humanity. As for my plans about my future,…

A smile is a facial expression formed by flexing the muscles near both ends of the mouth and by flexing muscles throughout the mouth.[1] Some smiles include contraction of the muscles at the corner of the eyes (see 'Duchenne Smiling' below). Among humans, it is an expression denoting pleasure, sociability, happiness, or amusement. This is not to be confused with a similar but usually involuntary expression of anxiety known as a grimace. Smiling is something that is understood by everyone despite culture, race, or religion; it is internationally known. Cross-cultural studies have shown that smiling is a means of communication throughout the world.[2] But there are large differences between different cultures. A smile can also be spontaneous or artificial.…

Smiling is contagious. One of my goals every day is to smile, whether to myself or to someone else, even a complete stranger. I have a neighbor, an elderly Chinese woman, I have no clue as to what her name is, yet every day when I leave my house I see her on her morning walk and we smile to each other. I once was on the W-line bus on my way to campus and I smiled to a person sitting across from me. I later realized the person was in one of my classes and I introduced myself as the guy that smiled to her on the bus. This person and I have become the closest of friends. I recently had a friend pass away, Johnny Napier, and at his funeral his parents had put up his senior portrait from high school. This was no ordinary senior portrait, however; it was Johnny smiling with a set of joke teeth in his mouth. Johnny's parents knew it was the way Johnny would have wanted us to remember him because he had the power to bring a smile to the faces of his family and friends.…

The toy I love the most is my Barbie doll. My father gifted me a Barbie when I was four years old, for my birthday. Oh! What a lovely gift and I had a lovely birthday party too. Since then I stopped sleeping with my parents. I and my doll slept in my room. Until then I was scared to sleep alone. Now I have a friend. The only time I leave her is when I go to school. My Barbie has five dresses – a party wear, a night suit, a summer wear, a woolen winter wear and a business suit. I can also do my Barbie’s hair. There are many colorful clips for my Barbie. Her hair is long. There is a special smoothening comb. When I comb it doesn’t pain for her. All the dresses have matching shoes too. I like her party shoes as it looks like glass and it is similar to that of Cinderella. All my friends like my Barbie. She is very delicate. When I put her on my bed she closes her eyes. When I pick her up she opens it. So we both sleep together and wake up together. I love my doll. I promised her that we will be the best friends forever (BFF).…

My friend Lianna is the most amazing friend anybody could ask for. We’ve been through so much together, we are destined to be sisters. We met on the first day of high school in English class, we were paired up to work on a project and then we introduced ourselves to each other and then we found out that we had a lot in common. Both of us were terrified of the massive size of the high school. She had the locker right next to mine. I told her I didn’t know anybody in our class and she said “You do now”. We’ve been friends ever since. Most boys think that Lianna is not very pretty and they make fun of her just because she’s Asian. She has long black hair, cascading over her shoulders. She laughs about everything and when she does, you see about a hundred white teeth- so bright, you almost need sunglasses. When she laughs, her eyes grow wide, casting a black shadow across the room. Lianna likes to dress kind of skater-ish, in sweatpants, sweatshirts, and bracelets. But, she’s very unpredictable, too. Sometimes she’ll wear a fancy dress or skinny jeans. She must have 4 closets full of clothes, because she barely wears the same outfit twice. Lianna is the most lively animated character I’ve ever known. She’s always rushing around trying to get the latest scoop on everyone. It’s like she’s in the FBI. Right before she shares important news, Lianna tosses back her dark black luscious hair, takes a deep breath, and quickly looks side to side making sure the coast is clear. She never says anything mean about people, she just wants to get the latest scoop and know what’s going on. She always supports me in everything I want to do. Not many girls in our group of friends play sports, but when I told Lianna I wanted to go out for basketball, she cheered me on and she said “Go for it”. Even though I didn’t make the team she was always my biggest fan during tryouts. Not only is lianna a tremendous supporter, she also trusts me to give her my…
