As I was driving to work this morning, government was the topic of discussion with the radio hosts. They discussed how the government is now admitting to obtaining files that individuals have on their social networks, as well as email. One of the men on the station was outraged by this new discovery, but ultimately the government has access to whatever they want to have access to in my opinion. The government is bigger than the people. It is shown on a daily basis that the government is much bigger than the individuals in this society, which is contradictory seeing as though we are a democracy. I decided to do my paper differently and instead of starting with part one of the topic, I will begin to discuss part two.
Most Americans do not understand the importance of the government in their lives in my opinion. The government for most people is either a love or hate type of thing. There is always a question about the government and people’s thoughts on it. Most Americans are spoiled, to say the least; if they were to go live outside of America they would be in for a rude awakening. Most Americans do not realize the extent of how bad or hard things are outside of America. The hardships that individuals have to go through, most Americans would not be able to survive. The wars and government in countries outside of America is chaotic and hectic, to say the least.
Government actions surround the lives of Americans on a daily basis. One of the government’s duties is security and each and every day we are surrounded by law enforcement and military officials on a daily basis. So the government continually protects our society. Another action of the government that I see on a daily basis is the fact that they allow the people to help in the decision making, like in a democracy setting, people are entitled to their opinions and have a say so in the voting process.
