Northville, a medium-sized city in the Midwestern part of the United States, has experienced a significant change in the composition of the municipal work force of 1,800 employees. Approximately forty-five percent of the city employees are female. In a recent survey of city employees over fifty percent of the employees said, "affordable day care for children is important to me." Meanwhile, the Director of the Office of Personnel, Mary Lux, believes that the lack of affordable day care is one of the main reasons for absenteeism and lateness among city employees. Mayor Petula Spark, several members of the city council, and the leader of the city employees' union, Denardo Legato, all agreed that something should be done. The question is, what should it be?…

Addressing the initial beliefs is the beginning. Mills speaks of Guba argument that the trustworthiness of qualitative inquiry could be established by addressing the following characteristics of a study: credibility, transferability, dependability, and confirmability (Mills, 2014). Mid-way Motivational interview will provide the trustworthiness vital to the overall success of this action research. It is my belief the process of elimination began when I reduced the research questions as mentioned in the previously. By reducing the seven questions to three questions was hard for me, but it in the long run it provided to be a clean approach to the research. Since I have been actively conducting the research, I see the benefit in the reduction. In my action research I am using Pre and Post Surveys as well as a midway Motivational interview. The three questions form the groundwork of the surveys that will provide a great amount of quantitative data in this action research. Also, the Motivational Interview will provide a great wealth of qualitative data that will be used in the research results. All collection tools used will provide a clearer picture of the effectiveness of Evidence Based Practices in relation to clients/caregivers and MST as a whole. The overall goal of my…

There are three stakeholders involved in this action research project as indicated in the Critical Mass Grid (Appendix). The main stakeholder is Jennifer, the Vice President of Service Operations. Jennifer was the driving force behind the inception of the newly created intranet home page for the service organization. The two other stakeholders are the Service Operations Consultants (“SOC”), Jennifer Q. and Victor. The SOCs report directly to Jennifer and have been instrumental in the creation and upkeep of the intranet home page. Competency Goal Four: To establish positive and productive relationships with families. As an early childhood educator, I have to maintain a positive and productive relationship with the families that come into my preschool. Parents entrust me with their children all day and, I make the parents and families feel as much a part of our classroom and a part of their child’s development. To create this relationship, I work to build an open, friendly and cooperative relationship with each of the children’s family. I make sure to let my families know about my open door policy where they can come into the classroom and stay for a short period of time. A great way to get families involved is to have a volunteer sign up for each of our event at school. I find this is a great way to get my parents involved in the school to help out.…

In the debate on corruption, I was asked to look at a claim that stated corruption was not looked at negatively in some cultures and that some forms of bribery and corruption are necessary in order for some societies to survive. There are some cultures where gift giving is a tradition that has been passed down through centuries and generations (Laurenson, 2012). These cultures use small gifts to help in negotiations and building and maintaining positive relationships with other cultures. Common sense dictates that one person’s professional or personal betterment does not keep a society thriving. For example, a politician who accepts bribes and makes shady back-door deals, is not helping his state or country, but himself and padding his own wallet. Therefore the only part of the claim that I can agree with is that there are societies who use gift giving as a form of etiquette.…

Action research is an interactive inquiry process that balances problem solving actions implemented in a collaborative context with data-driven collaborative analysis or research to understand underlying causes enabling future predictions about personal and organizational change (Reason & Bradbury, 2002). After six decades of action research development, many methodologies have evolved that adjust the balance to focus more on the actions taken or more on the research that results from the reflective understanding of the actions. This tension exists between…

The Logical Hypothesis that I would wish to achieve would be for the general public to clarify and state their level of participation in local community charity events that help raise money for those agencies. This knowledge would assist and lead to a better understanding of just what types of events would and could be more successful for the community that they live in. It is my hope that this survey proves that most people are still interested in the local causes that affect their own local community and that these same people are still willing to attend and donate money to these causes, if interest and awareness of the event can be generated beforehand by the organization.…
