After analyzing the three essays, choosing which college applicant would be the best candidate. My choice is James Gregory because his qualities are best suited. His qualities are persistence, hard work, and responsibility. This makes him the #1 choice for this position. Indeed Gregory’s persistence would be a necessary trait because It will help him not to give up when something is hard. Also when a drastic decision has to be made in order to receive a good grade, he would handle the situation calmly.     This memoir from Geoffrey Canada is now a graphic novel which was adapted by Jamar Nicholas. It begins by explaining Geoff’s first experience with violence, when his brother’s jacket was stolen in the park. His mother forced the oldest brother to go back out and take it back, that he would get a worse beating at home if he did not get it back. This was Geoff’s first exposure, at four years old he learned that he should not be made a victim.     “Five Myths about Immigration” is an essay written by David D. Cole which originally appeared in The Nation on October 17, 1994. The essay is a look at the ignorance and misinterpretation or “myths” as Cole calls them that immigrants are faced with every day in the U.S. His credibility on the subject speaks for itself. A Professor of Law at Georgetown University, after his graduation from Yale Law School, Professor Cole served as a law clerk to Judge Arlin M. Adams of the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. Not long after beginning his clerkship, Cole became a staff attorney for the Center for Constitutional Rights. He litigated a number of major First Amendment cases. His most notable case, Texas v. Johnson, 491 U.S. 397 (1989) established that the First Amendment does in fact protect flag burning.     The top 3 candidates will be Max Renoir, Thomas Reznor and James Heckman based on using the Compensatory Model. When looking at these 3 candidates they are the strongest in the unit weight with 70, 73 and 76 respectively and rational weight with 67.5, 69 and 76 respectively. Reznor and Renior have done well on the testing, conscientiousness and extraversion. Heckman’s testing was not outstanding, but his scores for conscientiousness and extraversion were outstanding which indicates a strong performance and working relationships with others. When looking at the top candidates using the Multiple Hurdle model we see Reznor and Renior again. Reznor has scored high on the testing, but is not quite as strong on the conscientiousness and extraversion. In reviewing the job description and KSAO requirements in screening of these candidates the best method to use would be that rational weights.
