This trip helped me to decide what I wanted to do with my life because I saw so many people who loved doing what they do so it got me to think about what exactly would make me that happy every day. First I would consider pursuing a career in forensic sciences with my criminology degree. I enjoy this subject for the research and experiments it takes. Finding answers and solving mysteries that could forever change someone life to me sounds incredible. I have always loved being in a lab and conducting various tests. When I came to Florida State University, I was a biology major. I have always loved the sciences and been excited to learn how things work and why they work the way they do. I would like to be able to work my way up and eventually head up the forensic department in a police precinct. That is my ultimate goal, and I truly hope to strive to obtain it. Criminal Justice Major was not my first option; in fact I never even considered criminal justice. I was an undeclared freshman who hated school and was thinking about dropping out to work in the union. The only reason I went to college was because I received basketball scholarships to many schools and I wanted to continue the sport I loved to play. Talking to my family about this they obviously did not want me to drop out and they wanted me to continue school and get a diploma. That where my brother says at least go for 2 years and get a degree so you can become a cop if you don’t like the union. So the next semester I joined criminal justice and ever since then criminal justice has been a passion to me, thanks…

When I tell people I am studying the field of forensic psychology I typically get the response, “oh, so you’re going to be like one of the actors on CSI or Criminal Minds?”. My typical response leads to me further explaining the field in general, and continue by informing them that many crime related dramas could actually be quite misleading. Prior to taking an actual course in forensic psychology, I probably would have made the same assumption. I did not fully understand how broad the field was and how much it had to offer. At this point of my undergraduate program I was trying to figure out what direction I wanted to pursue my psychological studies in. However, after the first few weeks into my forensic psychology class it became quite evident where my interests fell and by the end of the course, it became my passion to further my education to pursue the field of forensic psychology.…

“What do you want to do after high school?” this seems like a simple question but I can’t tell you how many of my friends couldn’t come up with an answer. I graduated from high school this past June, and I was asked that same question at least a hundred times. My answer was the same every time “I want to be a forensic scientist”. I received a lot of different responses, but the one that was the most common was; “Why forensic science?” I was tired of answering the same question so most of the time I would just respond with “It is interesting”. It has been a couple months since someone had asked me that “simple” question, but the other night at a basketball game, an old friend’s dad asked me why I wanted to go into forensic science; I gave him the same old answer. But that night when I got home I began to really think about why I wanted to be a forensic scientist.…
