One of these aspects has improved is Criminal Profiling. It all started in 1888. Criminal Profiling is usually used when offender’s identity is unknown and with serious criminal offenses, such as murder and sexual assault (“Criminal Profiling”). The process of criminal profiling is taken and divided into five stages. According to “Criminal Psychology Everything About It” the five stages are profiling inputs, decision processing, crime assessment, the offender profile, and investigative use. Those stages can help those that work in criminal profiling area investigate in an improved and tremendous way. Criminal profiling begins with the process of profiling inputs. Profiling input is when investigators gather data from the crime scene and other types of evidence. On of the most important points is for the investigators to gather information on the victim. Meaning the victim’s reputation, friends, relatives, and criminal history. The second stage is decision processing. Decision processing is when investigators have to organize and differentiate the information. They tend to classify the crime by type and style. The third stage is crime assessment. Crime assessment involves investigators figuring out the sequence of events and behaviors involved. During this stage, investigators organize the facts of the victims and offender. The fourth stage is Offender Profile. In this stage the investigator deals with the type of person who committed the crime and any one else involved.
