You are a probation officer who was conducting a home visit for probationer Bobby Jean. You walk up to the door, she answers, and you notice a bag of marijuana sitting on the kitchen table. She promises that it is not hers. You provide her with a urine screen and it is clean.
Based on the above scenario, please respond to the following questions: * What would you do? * Would this scenario lead you into an interrogation or an interview? Why? * What are the seven essential interview skills that a criminal justice professional must possess?
If I was the probation officer I would give her a urine screening and if she was clean I would question her on who’s pot it might be and proceed to inform her that she has violated her probation because of drugs being in her home. I would try to find out who the pot belonged to and see if hat person lived in the home where she lives. I would than check to see if the owner of the pot had any chartges against them. I would let her know that I could revoke her probation and send her to jail. She would have to find another place to live or move the person out who had the pot if they lived in the home. I would continue to monitor her by random urine screens.
This scenerio would lead me to interview her and her neighbors along with others that live in the home. I would seek to see if there is an enormous amount of traffic in and out of the home. I would interview the neighbors and ask them to report any suspicious activity. It could be that she might be trafficing the pot and not smoking.
The seven essential interview skills that criminal justice professionals use is : preparation, concentration, fscusing, neutrality, accuracy, decoding mixed messages, closing the interview on a good note. Thank them for coming in and offer them one of their cards so that if they think of anything else that might be helpful they

There are strikingly regular patterns in the progression of drug use from adolescence to adulthood. Because it is the most widely used illicit drug, marijuana is predictably the first illicit drug that most people encounter. Not surprisingly, most users of other illicit drugs used marijuana; we could go back in 1940 – from now? In fact, most drug users do not begin their drug use with marijuana—they begin with alcohol and nicotine, usually when they are too young to do so legally.…

Before leaving the premises, I will have to inform my friend about her friend 's use of illegal drugs at her own home, dispose the illegal drugs, throw out her friends from the property, and to also inform my good friend that next time it happens, that I will report it to the department, and make an arrest. In summary of my project to interview a professional in the criminal justice field, I chose to interview Special Agent Craig Tomlinson with the FBI. Special Agent Tomlinson has been in the FBI for 14 years and was a police officer for 13 years before that. He also served on his department’s S.W.A.T. team while he was a police officer. The reason why he decided to be a FBI agent is just simply that he wanted “to step it up” and go further with his career. Special Agent Tomlinson has three degree's, all of them in criminology.…
