BULLYING

She gasped for air between sobs. Tears from her wide, moistened eyes streamed unchecked down her pale brown cheeks. The tears tasted brackish to her lips, with a significant tint of bitterness in them: bitterness that she felt and directed at the others for putting her in such a miserable and pitiful condition as she was in that day; Or always, for that matter. Tears blinded her eyes as a new surge of emotion swept her. A muffled moan of grief arose in her throat, and her head throbbed with pain. But she kept silent, because she had learnt to do so now. The way she had learnt to adjust to her new surroundings in this alien, hostile country, and had learnt to accept the countless jeers and merciless teasing and bullying from people around her. She was an Asian- and that was all that mattered.

With a heavy heart, Naseem walked out of the stall in the secluded corner of the girl's bathroom on the third floor of the school. Over the past three months, this had become her refuge, a sanctuary where she kept herself and her emotions from falling apart from the rest of the world. Whenever the going got worse and the matters rose to a head, Naseem was off, like the wind, to her retreat where she alienated her soul from the rest of the world. She quietly walked to one of the sinks and stood in front of the mirror and stared at her heartbroken condition. Her eyes were swelled and red from constant crying. Her brown skin glistened and showed signs of wetness in the glaring lights. Just then the door opened and in walked two of the school's most admired girl's, who were equally proud and callous. They were oblivious to the existence of another girl in the bathroom, and with impudence steeping in their malicious grins, began black talking about Asian girls and what nuisance they were. They specifically stared at Naseem, who by then had turned a bright shade of crimson. Humiliation dawned her. Naseem whished the earth would split open and swallow her in its midst. By

“My silence was the thickest-total-during the three years that I covered my school paintings with black paint. She had one classmate who was very quiet, but she know she could talk really loud. Maxine walked by her house and heard her screaming, in not just English, but Chinese. The young classmate was also able to read out aloud. It seemed to me that Maxine didn’t want to help the young girl, but get all the attention as the quietest girl in school. She decided to follow her young classmate into the bathroom one day after school and beat her up. Maxine squeezed her fatty, fleshy cheek in between her thumb and finger. She called her stupid, pulled her hair, and kept yelling at her to talk. “ You do have a tongue,” I said. “So use it. (pg.178)” No matter how much Maxine tried to force her, her classmate just cried but said no…

Bullying exists in many forms which affect people physically, emotionally, and psychologically. Bullying is when a person or group of people use intimidation, insults or violence to make another individual feel scared or inferior. The views and beliefs about bullying have changed. Years ago it used to be considered as not a danger to the victim and that it would help children learn how to “toughen up.” Now bullying is considered a health issue as well as a threat. Bullying is no longer considered just a school age problem. It can continue or start for people at high school age, college age or even as an adult. More recently the awareness of bullying has brought the…

She thinks of all the passed years, all the years belonging to that foreign girl that she once, all drifting only further away, as if she had never even existed. She could no longer recall all of what she had done in her flaming youth, in her years of romance and teenage angst, she didn’t remember the coffee shop lunches or her ventures in friendship and betrayal. She couldn't even remember the names of her closest friends in high school or her first boyfriend- how inseparable they had once been and how now they meant nothing-. When she closed her eyes she could see her mother's eyes, her aged eyes, the ones that had seen so much, and knew that her eyes held the same desperate…

All that nervous energy that bounced in him, slammed his heart into his chest, kicked him in his stomach and fried his nerves was all gone and he felt incredibly hollow. Now his face itched from being held in a certain position and his lungs fluttered when they finally expanded. His ribcage was gone and his heart was reluctantly easing itself back to it’s normal pace. He stretched his fingers before him and considered, that maybe, maybe he was overreacting over a crush, but it was L of all people, so he stewed in it. He continued on alone, but didn't feel like walking, so he sat down before one of the films that allowed the survivors to tell their stories during the Holocaust. He half listened half pitter-pattered on his phone until someone sat close to him, he scooted over. Then he felt a very small tap on his arm. He looked up and found a faceless young woman holding this baby, this gorgeous, fat, wide eyed baby. Dark eyes, soft dark skin, and smooth curly hair. The baby gave him a gummy smile and tapped on his shoulder…

Bullies? Mean people that tease you? Nobody likes those kind of people. Bullies usually have a reason behind all of their bullying. Whether its emotions or people at home it's never good to treat people like that. For example, the character ,Julian, from ,Wonder by R.J Palacio, has been developing this occurring rudeness to August Pullman the new kid at Beecher Prep middle school, from his mother who edited Auggie out of the class picture. Another example of a bully is Andy Simms from Macaroni Boy by Katherine Ayres. Andy Simms is stuck on making up lies about Michael Costa and his dadś business The Costa Brothers and where they get their food and what they put in it. Although bullies like Julian and Andy Simms are different in their ways of being mean to people they also are very similar.…

“Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt… “ That statement couldn’t be further from the truth. How often have someone implied that words are meaningless and couldn’t possibly be hurt by them? “You’re stupid; you’re ugly; nobody likes you” are words most bullied victims may hear on a regular basis, words that can permeate through ones psyche emotionally, ones that can... well hurt. When we hear of someone being bullied, a normal humane reaction is to gravitate towards the victim and there is nothing wrong with that. Bullying is immoral, its indecorous, simply put – bullying is just mean. However, no one ever takes into consideration that bullies too might be victims, perhaps a victim of circumstance, of life or abuse. This is not to suggest that bullying is a suitable approach to coping with life’s challenges; unfortunately for some, it can be a defense mechanism.…

Years of continual contempt from those she was trying to help weighed heavily. Wearily she looked around the room, her eyes searching for inspiration. She knew she didn’t have long before the rest of the men in the room followed the lead from the man who was now revelling in watching her distress. Her throat tightened, she felt like a caged animal, helpless and imprisoned, a prisoner of her skin colour and her heritage. The sun stopped shining in the corner.…

    The Bully Essay

As a child who had to endure being bullied all through middle school, the film “The Bully” was quite impacting. To me, the most impacting story was Tyler Longs. He was a kind-hearted young boy who just so happened to be one of the unlucky few that had to live the life as a victim of being bullied. Day by day he was tortured by his fellow students. They would shove him in lockers, take his clothes while he was in the locker room, and push him into the urinal making him soil himself. His friend Ronan would see him getting bullied and would try to stop the bullies but Tyler would just wave it off, smile, and walk away. But one day the torture had gone too far. Tyler decided to take his own life by means of hanging himself in his closet on October 17, 2009. His father and younger brother witnessed him as he hung there with the life completely gone from his body. The only explanation was a letter on his bed.…
