Once upon a time in a world where rabid squirrels viciously eat alpacas, three little alpacas sleepily woke up to terrible news. They were outgrowing their mother's’ home and were forced to build their own. Normally their mother was a very kind person and accepting of others, but she was getting tired of a cramped house.…
The saga of old Geo. Ochenski continues. As Geo. sat on his rock, watching the Cadillac, getting smaller and smaller, until it was just a dot on the horizon before it disappeared over the hilltop. He sat there for some time, with his head in his hands. Contemplating, about what the elderly gentleman had said. As wheels of the mind began to turn the gears of thought, 'old Geo could almost hear them groan' from lack of usage. Suddenly the old 25 watt incandescent light bulb, lite up. Somewhere in the dark shadowy corners of his mind, stirred an almost unheard of phenomenal, reasoning was taking place. In panic Geo almost shelved it in disbelief. Slowly, oh so very slowly it came to the front of his mind. But, in the dim light of the 25 watt bulb, Geo was unable to understand it. Geo shook his head, in an effort to clear it. But, as with most things, Geo tried to do, it ended in failure. In shaking his head, Geo had accidentally turned on, the other 25 watt bulb on the right side of his brain, which he almost never used. As the light became brighter, Geo was slowly able to make out the printing in bold red, black and blue crayon, the words on the jello (sic) paper he was holding. It said, in bold…
I read in the Brisbane Times that they forecast temps below zero, how crazy! I’m enjoying the Swedish summer, which is between 23 - 30 C.…
As Fin walked along the street the leaves of the oak trees shone like patches of blue velvet, but when he stopped still nothing shimmered. The waves refused to move. The glow of the city still seeped into the morning sky, forever. He felt he must be dreaming, and yet he was sure he wasn't dreaming because everything felt so real. Surely his brain was not powerful enough to create such a masterful illusion. Or was it? He felt his head imploding just trying to figure it…
One famous example of such daunting feat was by a man named Jose Salvador Alvarenga. On November of 2014, he set out on a fishing trip with another co-worker. After about two days, Jose and his co-workers began to go back to El Salvador when fierce winds hit him off course (50 miles off his original destination) and punctured the bowl of the fishing boat. He spent 13 months on a small dinghy with the another man (who unfortunately died). During his peregrination, his dietary consumption…
Yesterday Glenn and I experienced Loon Lake here in Northern California, and man was it a great experience! Loon lake is located in Northern California and is adjacent to the legendary Rubicon Trail. Our day started with meeting at In N Out in Auburn CA at 4:30 a.m.....well I was there at 4:30; Glenn showed up around 4:50 but I can say it was fashionably late, at least as fashionable as a person can be that early in the morning. During my twenty minute wait, surprisingly I wasn't alone at this In N out. There were about three vehicles I spotted while sitting on the trunk of my Toyota Solara drinking my morning coffee as I thought to myself...what good reason could someone have for being at a random In N out at such a random time? Keep in mind…
About noon, on the fifth day of their journey, Charity told Uriah to stop the wagon. Looking around, Uriah did not see anything in particular that caught his attention and did not know why she wanted him to stop; as far as he could tell, there was not anything they needed there. And, his mother had not gotten off the wagon to go do her business or said anything about eating lunch. So, after bringing the horses and wagon to a complete halt, he turned to Charity and asked, “Why did you want me to stop?”…
Summer was dead, but autumn had not yet been born when the ibis came to the bleeding tree. It's strange that all this is so clear to me, now that time has had its way. But sometimes (like right now) I sit in the cool green parlor, and I remember Doodle.…
Second, the living conditions while traveling over seas were. “the preferred ocean route was around Cape Horn. The trip however, was brutal.”(Saffer 14) The individual's trip to California was a lot more than they were expecting. Their meals on the ship were awful because the foods that needed to be refrigerated were left in the room…
The crumbling leaves swayed, as the winter air crashed against his home. Walking towards his farm, William became uncomfortably aware of his surroundings. He grew up in this town, spending his days working and adventuring in every niche of the area. For an eighteen year old, his journey of life was monotonous. He endeavoured to peregrinate and advance his life- but his next journey was one that caused a nauseous, yet prideful feeling in the pit of his stomach.…
To me, the most vital part of my identity as Hispanic is being proud of my culture. Being Hispanic means that you are indeed in the minority and often questioned or judged about the customs of your race. There is no shame in the Hispanic culture because it stands out in this country and creates a more festive and diverse nation. To abhor your culture simply to assimilate or pretend for your own satisfaction that you belong is equally as abhorring your parents and family. It is abhorring who you are. To me it is a great blessing to be able to share my culture because in the world we live today it is even more important to allow others be accustomed to different cultures in order for them to respect those of different…
Fighting temptation describes a battle that is as much spiritual as it is emotional or physical. To be tempted is not a sin. Everyone is tempted and at different levels. Even Jesus was tempted! Temptation happens when the opportunity is presented to do what we know is wrong, whether against God, ourselves, or others. Being tempted is not wrong - it's the decision to do wrong and the corresponding action that follows.…

I was barely twelve years old when I first met Livi. She stood under the tree patiently, beckoning me with a large, red bow wrapped around her. Her screen gleamed with pride as she watched a look of excitement fill my face. Awestruck by her beauty, I gently enclosed her in my hands before racing up the stairs. For the next few months, my protectiveness continued, and I spent almost every waking moment with Livi. She was beside me to wake me in the morning, chat with me during school, and entertain me in my spare time. Her rings and buzzes in my pocket were a constant reminder of her admirable support and reliability. Little did I know of the overly-attached, self-destructive personality that Livi would soon possess.…
