Creative Writing: East Vancouver High School
On a normal sunny Friday, when Alice goes into the school gate, lots of other students greet her warmly, she has to stop a few times in order to respond. All the details show that Alice is such a popular student. However, things were so different when she came to this school at first.

Three month ago, Alice stood in front of her new high school gate, “East Vancouver High School”. Her father recently got a job here and she had to move here form New Brunswick. Today was her first day.

She had to admit this high school was as beautiful as a garden. The cobblestone streets shaded by flowering cherry trees combined with European-style housing with red-tile roofs. However, she set her lips nervously and thought, “I desire to escape from here, go back to my old high school where I have my sweet friend, Emma who always companies me.”

Obviously, Alice wasn’t fit well in “East Vancouver High School”. She kept silence in the

I have already lost my temper in your unbelievably boring story. It’s a good time for both of us to start a new life now.” Emma answered coldly.

Alice hung up her phone, tears continuously span in her eye sockets. A sense of being betrayed rose in her mind. “I will abandon you, just like you abandon you.” Alice thought.

The second day, Alice walked in school and began to talk to her classmates bravely. Her action was like opening the door to a whole new world of communication. Her classmates were really nice and interesting people. She joyfully found that a blonde girl and herself both were big fans of American countryside music instead of people’s common taste, the pop music.

“Happy Friday day! ” the blonde girl’s voice interrupts Alice’s memory. She is coming forward Alice and gives Alice a big warm hug. A slight smile appears on Alice’s face. She looks at the school gate and thought “Here is the place for me to become

Crisp, golden light creeped out from behind my curtains into my bedroom on a cool Fall morning, rising me up from my sleep. Once I had gotten myself dressed, I shuffled downstairs to my kitchen and poured myself some life cereal and milk. As soon as I had finished the rest of my daily routine that got me ready for school, my mom drove me and my sister off to Finley Farms, which was the school we attended. The school day went by as usual and slinked away, but after a few subjects my class, along with the other 5th graders, were led by our teachers downstairs to a room where we were greeted by a woman who told us she was Mrs.Sopeland. The fifth graders all sat down in a semi-circle formation and waited for the rest of the 5th grade classes.…

32 “Well its actually happening ma’, I’m goin’ back to school.”Rufus said. “I want you to know, I truly am proud of you Rufus.” His mother replied. Curtis and Janet went to a different school then Rufus but he still walked them to school then walked himself to school. On his way to school a car followed him very slowly but Rufus kept walking. When he got to school it looked the same on the outside that it always had. Rufus pushed open the doors at Searingtown School and yelled “I’m back!” All of his friends ran over to hug him. He went down to the office to get a tour he thought he didn’t need because he remembered every single solitary thing about this place. While the tour was going on everything going on was a blur. He looked left, right and left again, admiring the changes the school had made. “Wow” he sighed. “Is there a problem Rufus?” the tour guide asked. Rufus answered, “When I was here the wall paint was all chipped, there were broken windows and holes in the walls.” “Oh ok, well that concludes our tour and this door on your right is your first period class.” The tour guide replied. Rufus walked in and sat at an available seat at the back of the class room. He opened his notebook and took notes even though he didn’t understand anything that was going on. By the time 5th period came around it was time for lunch he was starving. All of his friends called him over and asked him to sit with him. Momma didn’t make him a big lunch because they didn’t have that much food in the house and then needed to split it 3 different ways. Allison who used to have a big crush on Rufus sat right next to him. Mitchell and Charlie sat across from him and Christina, Alisha and Sammy sat around them. When the bell rang he went to his locker and when he got to class he looked out the window and saw the same car that followed him to school. The only person he thought of was Simon. But he didn’t have a car? Rufus ran to the office to explain the…

Later, just a couple of minutes before Prep, I sat by the phone rooms, nauseous about how I would break the world-shattering news to Sophie. Ah, my beloved Sophie, we dated last year until she saw Matt Shauman. But I would have won her back with these tickets. Maybe I can say that I was suspended and Max will get them for her, so as not to break her fragile heart. So, plucking up my last piece of courage, I entered a phone cubicle and dialled her boarding house’s number. Brrrr, Brrrr, with numb fingers, they shook like an earthquake, so wedging the phone between my shoulder and ear, my breathing…

On a chilly autumn day, Calyssa Rynden stepped out of her fourth period of Lidden Middle School. The school had brick walls, and concrete pavements. It was the typical middle school. She glanced around, anxiously watching for Morgan Lyne and Felicity Walker. Morgan always jumped at every chance to insult Calyssa and make her life miserable. Felicity always smirked at her and gave Morgan more power. Calyssa peered around a corner, but there was no Morgan. She quickly walked toward the cafeteria. Maybe today she could get a seat inside. The building came into sight, and she walked faster. If she got in before Morgan and Felicity, she had a fair chance of getting a spot, even if she had to sit with other weirdos. "Not again!" I protested when I heard Mom's news. "Where are we going this time?" We've moved six times in the twelve years since I was born. That's because my Dad's job is to set up offices for his company, and each time he finishes establishing a new one, we move. "California," said Mom. "I'm sorry we have to uproot you again." She opened a map and pointed out the town we'd be moving to, north of San Francisco. She truly sounded sorry, but I could see she was pleased, too, because she's from California. She'd always said Chicago was too noisy for her. For one thing, the elevated railway wasn't far from our apartment. Whenever the trains rumbled past, the chandelier in our living room swung to and fro. My stomach felt full of cold lead. You'd think I'd be used to moving, but I felt sick every time. Now I'd have to say good-bye once more to the friends and places I'd just come to feel comfortable with. Plus, Chicago was the most exciting place we'd lived. It had everything—great parks, libraries, museums, skating rinks, and playing fields. Only five blocks from home was the Youth Center, where I played volleyball or board games or just hung out joking around with friends. That day, after learning the news, I went straight to the Youth Center to find my friends. Their smiles turned into gloomy frowns when I said I'd be leaving in a few weeks. We grumbled about my bad luck. Finally, Eric said, "Moaning and groaning isn't going to change anything. Can anyone say something good about this move?" Sarah piped up, "Well, Megan…you'll be lying on a warm beach while we're still slogging through the snow." I pictured myself lazing on a stretch of white sand, a gentle blue sea rocking before me and palm trees rustling behind me. I could go for that. "Just think," added Josh, "no freezing rain or sub-zero temperatures." "No tornados. No blizzards," contributed Kayla. "Just lovely, sunny days." "Yeah. All you have to worry…
