A mobile device is relatively small, handheld computing device that usually consists of a touch screen and/or miniature keyboard. Prime examples of these are the Apple iPhone or the Samsung Galaxy although there are many others that also fall into the category. Companies like Nokia, Blackberry and many more all create their own version of mobile device. All mobile devices have an Operating System (OS) and are capable of running applications or apps for short. Prime examples of these operating systems are Apples iOS or Google’s Android. Many of these devices are also equipped with Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS that allow them to be connected to the Internet or other compatible devices. These devices can be used Companies such as Everything Everywhere (EE), o2, 3 and many more offer mobile data connections for these devices.…

WiFi Analyzer is one of the most popular applications in the Android Marketplace, which is really a testament to how wildly useful this tool is for both the average user and the more technically inclined. In the most basic of terms, WiFi Analyzer is a tool to scan the area for WiFi networks and determine which channel is the least populated so you can adjust your own hardware to a less congested part of the spectrum.…
The rapid growth of Web 2.0 introduced a number of new design patterns and architectural styles in web development. One of the notable techniques involves the mashing up of information from existing services to deliver value-added new services. This process effectively includes the drawing of content from several sources in order to create a new content or service. The resulting web page is finally referred to as mashup of the existing content. While mashup services bring flexibility and speed in delivering new valuable services to consumers, the legal implications of this technology are significant.…
Lab – User Interface Classes Create a complex user interface with Android’s user interface classes Objectives: Familiarize yourself with Android’s User Interface (UI) classes. Create a simple application that uses a variety of UI elements including: Buttons, TextViews and Checkboxes. You will also reinforce the knowledge you've gained in previous lessons by implementing a larger portion of the application from scratch.…

Algorithms is a formula or set of steps for solving a particular problem. A set of rules must be unambiguous and have a clear stopping point. Algorithm can be expressed in any language, from natural languages like English or French to programming languages like FORTRAN. Most programs, with the exception of some artificial intelligence applications, consist of algorithms. Inventing elegant algorithms that are simple and require the fewest steps possible is one of the principal challenges in programming. Algorithms has three different use, it is use for calculating, data processing and automated reasoning. However, there are lots of applications that are still missing in the Mobile App Industry which is indeed helpful for the user of smartphones. This study will develop an algorithm which will fall under the data processing which will be applied to a mobile applications.…
3. LANs connect different computers (hardware) within a limited area (usually one building), supplies software to each of these computers, and connects the users that use these computers.…
The first stage to making an app is to conceptualize your ideas and thoughts you may have on the app you plan to make. Make sure your programming staff includes a very talented developer to help plan for your app. Start off by choosing a type of app from the various categories there are in the market. These categories may include entertainment, widgets, informative, or educational and each of these categories contains various sub-categories such as audio and video, news, weather, religion, or mathematics. Discussing these with your developer is important in order to receive his professional feedback. Carter Thomas claimed in his article titled “iPhone App Development - Part 1” : “Most importantly, I was able to work with a developer every step of the way and understand why certain projects fail and why some succeed, analyzed through the lens of personality differentials.” (2)…

In a world where mobile technology is thriving and prospering, it can be very difficult to figure out which OS is best for you, as a consumer. “In the fourth quarter of last year [2010], sales of smartphones topped sales of PCs and laptops” (Vogelstein, Wired Magazine). An operating system is the system that runs on a mobile phone or computer. For example, a PC (personal computer) runs Windows 7, whereas a Mac runs iOS. Today, there are only a few operating systems that are thriving. These operating systems are Android OS and iOS. Android is far more superior than iOS. Android OS was bought by Google in 2006. It began as a tiny company run by Andy Rubin. Unlike iOS, which was funded and founded by a very rich man, Android started small. iOS is run by Apple, a very popular company that also makes computers and mp3 players. There are many differences between Android and iOS. Different types of users will use different types of operating systems. For example, typically Android users tend to be younger people, and elders, whereas iOS users (used to be) business workers. Recently, there has been a shift of power between Android and iOS, and now Android is starting to come out on top. Since Android began to sell phones, there have been around 250,000,000 activations (Dediu, Asymco.com).…
In this paper, we analyze the future of the smartphone operating system market and consider strategies that Google Android can employ to survive and grow.…
