Cosmetic Ingredient Review Paper
This article talks about the purpose, responsibilities, and works of the Cosmetic Ingredient Review (CIR), as well as its ties to the FDA and the Consumer Federation of America (CFA). The CIR uses clinical and experimental data to conduct independent and expert reviews of the ingredients in cosmetics and determine if they are to be considered safe for use. The panel studies and reviews the toxicity of the chemicals used as well as their acidity and their possible effects on constant human used. The CIR often re-reviews previously used chemicals such as sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) and studies how it is used to keep up with the ever evolving market.
